This isn’t in the pit because I don’t want to rant against the mods, or be angry. I see this as hopefully become a pure numbers thing, peaceful protest or whatever.
Anyway, I miss Sqrl’s posts, and just the general sense of fun that he brought over here. Hopefully others will feel the same and join the post-petition or whatever this is. Maybe he’ll come back to us.

I realize that OP made no sense if you didn’t know what I meant. Sqrl got banned for making a bad joke in MPSIMS which made a lot of people worried about him (I laughed for half an hour). When he came back people were pissed and he the mods banned him.
I’m hoping the mods will hear our pleas to let him come back.

I’m not friends with SqrlCub, I don’t think I’ve spoken to him off the boards at all, aside from being in chat together a couple of times. I also tend to stay away from ‘board politics’ for the most part. That said, I’d just like to express my feelings as a member and as an unbiased observer.
I feel Sqrl’s banning was a little heavy-handed.
I’ve been here a long time, and I lived through the Little Tassie fiasco, the concrete thingy, and numerous other, less-memorable trolls.
What SqrlCub did was a joke. Yes, he let it go too long, and yes, it wasn’t funny, but he wasn’t being a ‘sympathy troll’ or doing a ‘social experiment’. He pulled a post-Halloween prank. He’d been a respected poster for over a year (I believe) before this incident, and when he came back he apologized.
I also know from being here this long that chances are he won’t be reinstated, no matter now many of us think he should be.

I thought the thread was in pretty bad taste–but it is as Lucki says–a mistake. He did make an attempt to apologize and explain himself instead of trying to weasel away from what he had done. (owning up to mistakes is something I respect, provided they are not repeated.)
I agree with Lucki, although I humbly accept the power of finality in a Mod or Admin’s judgment.
Well… I didn’t get a chance to watch it first-hand, since I was away somewhere (DTF? I dunno…). I’m still not completely sure of the details, but it’s my understanding that a lot of people were very worried about nothing. A prank. Whatever.
Consider the number of posts you’ve read in which the OPer states “Problem X is happening and it sucks. Good vibes my way” or whatever. What if Problem X never existed? What if my mother was never even sick? What if oldscratch’s cancer had been made up? What if Ayesha really isn’t a Hepatitis sufferer? What if Eutychus55’s friend never existed, and he kept all the donations for himself? What if Lynn’s dad is really on a cozy beach somewhere, sipping tropical drinks and playing golf with WallyM7? Maybe I’m completely off base here, but there’s a certain level of trust that goes into all those good wishes and prayers and positive thoughts and {{{{hugs}}}}. A trust that says, “I can’t see that you’ve broken your leg in 14 different places, but I’m going to trust that you really did. Here are my best wishes for a speedy recovery”.
I once read (in some thread in the very distant past) that some people won’t even post to those types of threads because of people faking such devastating misfortunes. And to me, that’s bullshit. Why people would actually go to such lengths for a reaction… I mean, a “prank”… is beyond me.

As I said before, I did not get to watch this “live”. But I would be awfully mad if I was so worried about a person that I couldn’t stop refreshing my screen just to see if they had posted yet, only to learn that they were full of shit from the start, that they’d been fooling me all along.

I missed the whole incident that led to his banning, but in the time I’ve been on the boards I’ve frequently been impressed by his obvious sincerity and concerns for others.
Count me in as one who would like the whole situation re-evaluated now that everyone has cooled down.
Add me to the dissenters. It wasn’t just a “bad joke,” that went on too long either.

Oh heck, I guess I’m just a sucker for little furry animals. The same mushy streak that made me worried as hell about him just won’t let me watch him get banned without saying “Give him a chance”. I watched the thread for most of the last day, and I gotta admit, I was pretty freaked out, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking it didn’t quite ring true. Anyway, I’m over the "You ain’t dead, so now I’m gonna kill ya " phase. Mind you, if he ever pulls anything like that again, there’ll be a sqrl DEFINATELY looking for his nuts, if you know what I mean!
