For the show - it was the first reasonably original thing they’ve done - and I’m very curious if there is a slew of dead bodies in some real location from her first foray into the game.
I liked it but then I liked the original when it started, although there was indeed a lot of stupid. I understand why they would kill off Claire but she was pretty indestructible so not sure how they actually kill her.
There seemed to be a lot of mysteries and I worry they will end up going no where. There are at least 3 groups after the evos, one watches and sort of protects but seems selective in who they protect. One kills for apparent revenge and one either kidnaps or kills.
I don’t get the logic of the grieving couple killing all evos just because they blame them for their sons death, it seems to be a big leap to go from grieving to “hey, some of these people may have been responsible for our son’s death so lets become mass murderers and never mind if some innocent normals get caught in the crossfire.” I think there may be more to the mother since she seems to have no problem killing and I suspect the father will actually turn out to be an evo himself or least they will come to a parting of the ways when he decides he can’t kill anymore.
Yes, I didn’t like that part at all, too—it was just so cheesily done, the CGI wasn’t good, and it just sort of took me out of the whole thing. And the first time, when she was knocked out and just conveniently sheathed her sword, she re-appeared inside her apartment, despite being somewhere outside at the time; however, when she did the same thing in the tower, she appeared in its real-world version instead. That’s just the sort of plot-convenience based powers (if it is indeed a power) and lack of attention to detail and consistency that to me was a large part of the original’s demise.
Also, it seems to have been made clear that Claire didn’t die in the Odessa explosion, yet nevertheless, it seems to be the case that Noah is certain she’s dead anyway. Have we seen any reason for his believing so?
In a universe with several mind-controllers, I’m thinking that Noah’s firm belief that Claire is dead has nothing to do with any evidence he’s seen or remembered…
I didn’t enjoy episode #2, it feels very tired … can;t quite put my finger on it, but nothing they are introducing seems, well, worth it.
Just watched the two-hour premiere, and this perfectly describes my feeling.
I like the show as a whole far more than I expected, but I found the entire katana girl storyline embarrassingly unwatchable. That whole concept is just cringe-worthy, and the execution is a thousand times worse than the concept.
So, I’m thinking about fast-forwarding through all of katana girl’s scenes, and have somebody fill me in once it gets relevant for the larger plot.
Also, big shock that the murder couple’s dude has powers, right? So I wonder if those two walked on the, uh, not so savoury side of the street before loosing their son, or if she just went from mild-mannered mother to ‘all right, lunatic killer now!’ upon the death of their son. The husband seems to indulge it as one would a somewhat cost-intensive hobby—OK honey, but do we really have to keep killing all of them? I mean, maybe we could just kill like, two or three a month?
And does clone guy regenerate always with the clothes he happens to be wearing, or just with his standard suit and tie? Although, apparently electronics is excluded from regeneration, as the new hand didn’t have the clock. So if he’d worn gloves, would he have regenerated a gloved hand? But I’m already putting more thought into this than the writers ever did, I guess…
Did they ever explain why Hiero’s sword is magic? It doesn’t…‘fit’…the storyline. Mutants, genetics, science fiction and a sword with the power of “plot advancement”? It magically gave Hiro his powers back because…reasons. And it allows Katana-girl to teleport into a Samarai World of Warcraft game because…reasons. And it did something or other to the white guy stranded in ancient Japan in one of the later seasons of the first run because…reasons. Any explanation or rationale ever been given?
Like the Black Blade, Hiro’s sword is a sentient being. It actually caused all the mutant powers by experimenting on humans in feudal Japan.
The Time Lords did it.
Shaq really is a genie.
Please stop me…
Watching the fourth episode right now. Got the thrill chills, much like the first season of the original Heroes. Don’t know why, but it’s really good at times.
I’m a fan.
The ridiculously bad greenscreen shots bug the crap out of me. How many sets and locations did they actually film on, anyway? It seems like everywhere the characters go they’re on yet another virtual set.
I want to hand the teleporting kid a copy of Gould’s *Jumper *series. “Here, kid- learn.”
Yeah, they have just mass murdered dozens of people, left scads of clues, and the police have not caught up with them??
Yeah, and he clones his gun, too?
Oh, well, if you’re going to argue about unbelievable – how about an entire room full of plugged in evos, apparently on automated life support given absolutely no nurses or aides wandering around, and yet they’re all modestly dressed in leotards and such?
Hey, Coma got it right, how many decades ago? When you want to keep bodies alive you keep them naked with various tubes plugged in/coming out. You do not worry about oh mi ghod someone might see one of our veggie’s nipples.
I’m wondering which part of the area above the Arctic Circle has aurora at night and then the sun high in the sky a few days/weeks later.
Did they say it was above the Arctic Circle?
The past few weeks have seen vivid aurora far below the arctic circle , all the way down to England and mainland Europe. It’s October, so that’s about 10-11 hours sunrise to sunset.
I finally sat down and watched the premiere episode.
Holy crap, are the Japanese and Latino characters straight out of Cliche 101! What’s next, an Italian evo who shoots pasta sauce out of his fingers and throws deadly pizza slices, and a super rabbi who can do a bris telekinetically? Because that would be what they’d have to do to match the Japanese girl, at least.
And why would Noah just assume Claire is dead? Didn’t they spend entire episodes of the original series showing how she can regenerate herself? Duh.
i’ve watched ep3 now - they even declared
they’re INHUMANS
at the end… I don’t need a repeat at this point -it was already looking that way, and yeah, we have an almost crazy amount of superhero stuff on so some overlap is expected - but … but… I think I just took it off the DVR list.
The screen text at one scene change said “The Arctic Circle, 66’ 34” N"
Well, this is the same show that, in the original run, had a total solar eclipse happen worldwide at the same time.
Good point. Maybe there are unusual astronomical occurrences in this universe, like the seasons in Game of Thrones.
