What would Alex Keaton do?
When I was still 16, many family members and friends remarked how much Alex P. Keaton reminded them of me. I was a young Republican, looking forward to voting for Reagan in 84. We both believed in conservative economic policy and where against the perceived excesses of the Liberals.

Well Gary David has given his view of Alex being disillusioned with the last 7 years of Bush/Cheney and while he did love the 2000 McCain, does not love the 2008 one that has bent on Water Boarding and Jerry Falwell.

He thinks that a staunch and loyal Fiscal Conservative Republican would end up voting for Obama this time.

Anyway, reading the blog entry I realized that my family and friends must have been right and we were very similar. Just a Mundane Pointless thing I felt like sharing. :wink:

Odd. The people I know in real life who remind me most of Alex Keaton are Ron Paul fans.

It fits until you start digging into his policies, than you realize there are several key issues where he is not a Libertarian at all. He staggers into Theo-Con territory. I know I never liked that unfortunate side of the party and I don’t believe Alex would have either.

I am trying to remember Alex’s take on Foreign policy, I am drawing a blank but as he was a heavy supporter of Reagan and Nixon, I am sure he would strongly dislike Paul’s isolationist tendencies.
Gangster Octopus, did Alex do that to? I never caught that before.

I thought Alex became liberal in the series finale, when he remembered yelling at Mallory to stop a chicken from clucking and it turned out it was really her baby. (Or maybe that was another show’s finale- Seinfeld or Diff’rent Strokes [nah, wouldn’t have been Seinfeld… if he’d made a woman smother her own baby on the subway he’d just end up kvetching about how annoying her screams were with his friends at the diner.)

Did we ever learn what the P stood for? Since his parents were hippies I’m guessing Peacechild or something similar.

Unlike Kirk Cameron’s Mike Seaver, we definitely saw Alex’s nipples.
