It’s naive to assume they won’t, and I of course they should be able to - when the mic is off.
I think Obama should have replied that Bibi is an unfuckable lard-arse.

God damn it, it’s not lupus !
…gonna miss old Silvio, always good for a laugh…
This must be lamest Pitting in a while…
But two interesting things… first, somehow Netanyahu known to be quite aggressive and impolite far right radical of Israeli politics gets a pass on being called a liar because, all politicians are liars so if another politician calls N. a liar it’s worthless b/c they’re all liars. A very lame apologetic stance. Another interesting thing is that somehow Netanyahu is being presented as equal to the presidents of 2 of the Top 5 countries in the world discussing at the top world summit G20 where Israel does not belong. Hell, President of US should not be afraid to call anyone a damn liar if he wants to. WTF?!
It’s a very weird direction that this Pitting is taking.
I’m predicting by the time the thread is over Sarkozy and Obama will end up being factual liars with dozen or so cites and Netanyahu will get a honorary Dope Award for being that rare bird among politicians, an honest broker for peace and coexistence. And, that award is one last step before Nobel Peace prize.
Hell, Obama’s already got that, for doing…what?
Depends. If an enemy was launching rockets into your neighborhood, you may feel a little bit different about it.
At the moment, Netanyahu is the leader of the only Jewish country in the world - one that most Jews have some tie to, either through visits, family, dual citizenship, or whatever. I personally don’t think that Israel is the crux of my Jewish identity (at all- it’s annoying, actually, the amount of attention and cash we’re supposed to give Israel) but I can’t help but to feel sad about (what most Jews view as) lopsided and thinly veiled antiSemetic jabs at Israel on the world stage. What Obama said wasn’t anti-Semetic - hell no - but it was in poor taste. And given the context of the convo, (France’s position of the UN recognition of a Palestinian state), it’s just extra sour. Because that comment wasn’t about Netanyahu alone - it was also about Israel in general.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To win the Nobel Prize.
Well, I’m kinda with you on this one. It seems to be burning with the heat a brown dwarf star. My reason for putting it here was largely erroneous, however, in that I was not in fact pounced upon as an antisemite (which I’m not, but I’ve been misunderstood before) for failing to condemn the Frenchman and the negro who mocked him. I still like the other info it’s generating (ie: Wilf is a hottie and I respect her dearly!!) though.
So in keeping with the current level of fury: Darn you and your opinion to heck you…you…you…person who is somewhat less keen of wit than I!
You’re talking shite. A man unaware that the mic is on makes a comment about Netanyahu being a liar. It’s not a statement about Israel, the jews, or anything else. It’s Sarkozy calling Netanyahu a liar.
What makes your comment particularly amusing is the preamble, about being annoyed at the prominence of Israel as a topic, and then making it the centre of this particular incident. Nice line in consistency there.
Sometimes, it’s possible for one person to dislike another, without it being anything to do with their race, creed, beliefs or anything else. In this case, Sarkozy is making his personal dislike of Netanyahu clear to Obama. As already pointed out by Simplicio, that seems to be quite a common theme.
She should marry Ambivalid.
Given the context of the conversation, it’s clear that this comment wasn’t about only Merkel’s arse. It was also about German arses in general.
How do you say “hubba hubba” in Hebrew?
I can get behind this. Jessie Helms used to be my Senator. I hated his politics, and I really didn’t much like him personally, either. However, it would chap my ass when people would bad mouth him. To paraphrase Boone and Otter from Animal House:
“They can’t do that to our Senator.”
“Yeah only WE can do that to our Senator.”
I don’t.
What on earth are you talking about?
“Oye vey!”
Hubba Hubba is Hebrew. Although it’s usually written “Chubbat”.
By this logic you excuse every Israeli leader from criticism, until such time as there is more than one Jewish country.
Taste? What? Bollocks.
You what? Utter bollocks.
WTF? Total bollocks. (See earlier comment re. German butts.)
There is some weird kind of paranoia in your political thinking.
Is this like unto “Oye”, “Oye Vey” and “Oye Gevalt”?
What a wierd, sad paraniod world view you have.
A bunch of people think Bibi is a raging asshole. Says nothing about Jews or Israelis (unless of course - as seems to be the case in your case - they share his raging assholeness).
