Napping OK At The Workplace Monday
Short Sleep Break Could Be Just What
Workers Need
NEW HAVEN, Conn., Updated 8:43 a.m. EDT April
3, 2000 -- If you're starting to nod off on the job
Monday, you're ready for the first National Workplace
Napping Day.
The event is being pushed by Bill and Camille Anthony,
co-authors of two books on napping. They say a short
sleep break is just what workers need when they begin
to drag in the afternoon.
The Anthonys picked Monday for the event because
many people are a little extra tired after giving up an
hour of sleep at the start of daylight-saving time.
Craig Yarde has already bought into the idea. The
president of Yarde Metals in Connecticut has told his
workers to bring lawn chairs and blankets for a midday
snooze. He's even providing eye-masks.
