April Annoyances (mini-rants)

There is a WIDE range in between you know. I’m another one that tells the TV that being the person with the crazy laugh is anti-social.

Just the opposite of being anti-social. Getting your panties in a bunch as someone is enjoying themselves and you arent- that’s anti-social.

Well, there’s your problem - you are making dumb assumptions!

In the “Up Next” area right under where the video plays is an Autoplay toggle. Switch it off.

Minirant- My friend’s daughter has gotten wrapped up in some MLM shenanigans and her repeated attempts to get me involved are getting on my last nerve. She is a very nice young woman and I don’t want my polite declining to become rude declining but it’s going on 3 weeks and she’s not getting the message.

ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!! Fuckin’ CVS!!!

OK, I get that the class 3 laws changed and now I have to have a new paper RX every month for my Norco. OK, I get that it’s a giant stupidity on United Healthcare’s (may they be nuked from space) part to only pay for one manufacturer of this drug. OK, I get that you can easily run out of that particular drug.

But, WHY is it “company policy” to not tell me over the phone if you happen to have it available before I come in?? It’s PAIN medication. Do you really think it’s a good idea for me to come stand in line just to find out you don’t have it on hand? And then tell me that when you don’t, I have to go stand in line at another pharmacy to find out if THEY have it?? And guess what? Repeating that it’s company policy doesn’t do anything but make me ready to finally change pharmacies, even tho no others are close to home.

Jesus H Christ. What is the popular term here? Goat fletchers?

I do want to point out that the acetaminophen does most of the heavy lifting pain-relief wise in that combo. After a couple of months, the hydrocodone is mostly just feeding your drug habit. Personally, imho no 'scripts for any hydrocodone meds should continue past 90 days unless you are terminal.

We tend to get these kind of rants whenever a patient has issues getting their hydrocodone 'script. Not their other scripts. It’s the drug habit talking, the idea that you might not get your drug is scary. Do talk your your MD about this. This isn’t directed simply at curlcoat, it’s for any poster who takes hydrocodone for long term pain management.

Also note that acetaminophen is the generic for Tylenol and taking your 'script and also a full dose of Tylenol plus some booze could lead to liver failure. Acetaminophen hides in many cold medications.

Forgive me for replying to myself, but I need to add to this. This has been only a few days even though it sounds like an ongoing issue. Anyway, we had to pick up something at her house two days ago, and she first claimed that her neighbors almost called 911 because they thought it was a home invasion and now she’s calling it a “violent home invasion”. (She has no clue that one of our people was videoing the whole thing. We were calm and polite and she was the only one screaming. Our person who entered her house refused to go in at first and only did because she said if he didn’t he wouldn’t get what we sent him there for.) At the rate she’s escalating, she’s going to accuse us of raping her next. She’s so breathtakingly outrageous that it’s starting to get funny. But not funny, the way this is going we may land in a court of law where a judge is going to have to slap her down. Or present her with a pretty new jacket with wrap around sleeves. :smack:

Yeah, well you are completely wrong, thanks for playing.

That’s the addiction talking.

Uh huh. I rant about the hoops I have to jump thru due to junkies and insurance, so you immediately assume I’m addicted. As I said, thanks for playing. Come back when you actually have something intelligent to say.

I’m thinking it is time for your people (and management) to refuse to deal with her as she is a potential threat. She should be trespassed from all company property and told to have no contact with your employees. I would also make it clear that if the company requires you or anyone else to have dealings with her, they’d better have at least 3 people present to provide witnesses - especially after the video taped incident.

Seriously. I’m not a small man, I own guns and have belts in several martial arts - and I would refuse to deal with her or have her anywhere near me and would let my company know that very clearly.

Some dudes think that when someone asks about their drug habit they are denying the pain. I am not denying your pain. I am not your Doctor nor anyone’s MD.

But if you are on hydrocodone for long term pain management there are somethings which are always true:

  1. The hydrocodone is getting less and less effective, unless your MD is increasing the dose. The acetaminophen is likely doing most of the pain relief now.

  2. You are developing a dependence on that drug. Perhaps it’s minor.

  3. acetaminophen is the generic for Tylenol and taking too much Tylenol plus some booze could lead to liver failure.

Now, sure- both of these may well be in the realms of what your MD thinks you can handle. That’s true for many people. I was on a drug for a longish period, I read that this often gets into a habit, I discussed that with my MD and he explained that he knew my history and I could handle the bad week - and that the week would not be so bad for me. But *we discussed the dependence issue *and made plans for stopping the drug and what would happen when we did.

So, I may be completely off base in how much of a dependence you are developing or perhaps your condition is terminal.

All I am asking is that you discuss this with your MD.

Honey, you are a name on a message board. You have no idea how much I take, how often I take it, how long I’ve been taking it and you certainly have no idea whether or not I am addicted to anything. And now you even admit that you aren’t a doctor.

Here are some actual honest to god facts that I shouldn’t have to go into in order to rant about stupidity. I’ve been on pain medication since high school and am now 57. I have never been addicted to anything. I am not stupid, and neither are my doctors. I’m not a dude.

Now, in light of that, do you really think you know more about me and my health care than I do?

Fuck Keurig and its hostile invasion of the tea/coffee aisle at my local grocery. There used to be a decent tea selection there: multiple varieties, flavors, caffiene levels. Then the k-cups invaded. Now there are 500,000,000 boxes of (disposable) Keurig-machine-only teas on the top shelves and at eye level and a paltry few boxes of bagged herbal, green, and black teas down near the floor.

Don’t even get me started on the idiocy of making *tea *in a *coffee *maker. Only Philistines and Pharisees do that.

I said I absolutely did not. * All I am asking is that you discuss this with your MD.*

and I said *This isn’t directed simply at curlcoat, it’s for any poster who takes hydrocodone for long term pain management.

This, if you’re not a complete asshole, is probably the single stupidest thing you’ve ever let into the wild. Stop it.

It should be pretty obvious, even to you, at this point that you are hilariously overvaluing your input on this topic. Typically, this is where I would counsel withdrawing while you still have your dignity, but the overwhelming sense of self-importance in your last post makes that moot.

Yeah, that was over the top. I apologize.:smack:

But honestly, if you had to deal with as many drug seekers as I have, you’d give me a tiny break.

To quote that great 1985 film Clue: “Too Late!

I think you were intending to respond to the other mail complaints about receiving mail for people who no longer live there. My complaint was with not receiving mail that is correctly addressed to me, and not being able to contact anyone at the post office to correct the situation.

Sorry if I have interrupted the internal sub-thread about medications and pharmacies and laws thereunto appertaining.
