I like Arby’s but I didn’t like the sliders when I tried them. 1 wasn’t enough, 2 was almost too much, the buns were thick and dry and flour-y.
I absolutely LOVE Arby’s roast beef Gyros. Love love LOVE them. The turkey not so much.
I like some of the sliders, but I hate that they got rid of the Juniors. I think they were like 2 oz of beef for $1 (and later $1.59) and the regulars were $3.39 or so for 3 oz. I could be a little off on that but the Jr. roast beef was a good deal for my kids, who don’t like sliders and don’t like cheese.
Also, their Happy Hour menu makes it sort of pointless to eat those items any other time of day. At least for me. Ex: you could get 3 sliders, fries, and a shake for $5 then but it would be $9 or $10 any other time.
I mostly haven’t been there lately because I started a new job and have no money or room in my budget for even the happy hour/dollar menu fast food deals these days. I am tempted when I see ads and get emails about stuff like the Smoked Italian.
I’ve mentioned that a few times in the previous Arbys threads here. Sometimes that’s a deciding factor for me, as there aren’t really any plain fast food fries that I like. I like 5 Guys if that counts as fast food but don’t like paying $12 for a burger, fries, and drink. Sometimes I’ve done Wendy’s just because they have the Baconator fries and whatever current special they always seem to run.
I miss the baked potatoes, loaded potato bites, and onion petals. Even with those things discontinued Arby’s still has the curly fries, potato cakes, onion rings, loaded curly fries, jalapeno bites, salad, and mozz sticks.
My son even liked the mozz sticks from McDonalds (and they were cheap) but it looks like they dropped them.
Your taste may be different, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve had it twice and both times was disappointed. The meat is strange. It’s several different meats, but I suspect they’re pre-prepared and are folded together in one hard, compact lump. If I had it again I’d take the sandwich apart and loosen up the meat. The bun isn’t toasted.
You’re not missing much.
If you have a few spare dollars and want a good Italian sandwich at a fast food place, try Quizno’s. I really like theirs.
