OK, I bought an XBOX system and am enjoying the games. But I’d like marry the games and graphics with a “robust” arcade-style controller. Is this possible? If so, any suggestion on how to do it?
For example, the Golden Tee bar game is great with the sturdy track ball used for the club swing. But, I like the graphics and golf physics of Tiger Woods XBOX game (and don’t want to shell out $4k for a state of the art arcade game).
I know there are a few different types of controllers you can get for Playstation and/or XBOX, but the ones I’ve seen are still kind of plasticky and cheap. I’m thinking of something you can really pound on, even if I have to build a sturdy mount for it.
A little pricey, but a quality piece of work, is the X-Arcade. I’ve used it quite a bit on a friend’s system. I don’t know how useful it would be for most X-Box games, though. It doesn’t have an analog joystick, for example. It’s designed to emulate a “classic” arcade feel.
Just note that something like the X-Arcade is NOT going to work with alot of Xbox games- as eegba said, there is no analog joystick, and tons and tons of Xbox games use both analog joysticks- one to move forward back and strafe and one to look around. So games like Halo would probably be out on something like this. On the other hand, it probably would work great for Dead or Alive 3, as the game can be played with only 3 buttons and the D-pad, and is designed to be able to be played on something like that.
