Yah! I bought an XBOX.

Are there any games similar to Age of Empires, the computer game? I know they have The SIMS. But any “realtime strategy, build a society and destroy other towns” games for the xbox?

I think Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown, which either just came out or is due out any day now, has some real time strategy involved.

In any case, make sure you buy Halo and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic right away.

And if you’re into online games (especially sports or first-person shooters), you better go ahead and get Xbox Live.

Your not gonna find anything like AoE until consoles decide to create a more complex controller - like a mouse and keyboard. I don’t know why they don’t - if they are afraid of it becoming too much like a computer they can make it look “consoley.”

They made Rollercoaster Tycoon for XBox. It was, um, interesting trying to control it.

You could always get a Dreamcast. That has a mouse and keyboard.

Game recommendations:

Halo (required)
Soul Caliber
Football: Madden or ESPN
Hitman # (whatever is current…I think 2, but maybe 3)

RTS games don’t translate well without the mouse.

If you have an up to date PC you might not want to get Halo for the Xbox. The PC version is the same but has a better online multi-player component, if you’re into online gaming. If not then ignore my post.

Hmm… I’m not going to start a fight or anything, and I do sincerely hope your new X-Bow will bring you joy, but the sentence: "Yah! I bought an XBOX " made me wince.

Halo? Check
Knights of the Old Republic? Check

There, all of the worthwhile games that are available exclusively on the XBOX (and in a few weeks, we can strike Halo off that list)have been listed. Have fun!

Not quite friend

Panzer Dragoon Orta
Otogi
Project Gotham Racing
Gun Valkyrie
Jet Set Radio Future
DOA 3
Mech Assault
Shenmue 2

and coming soon:

Fable

Eh, some of those I kind of agree with, some of them I don’t, but like I said, I don’t want to start a fight here, so I’ll concede the point.

Besides, who cares about console exclusives, anyway? As long as you’ve got hardware that can run the games, that’s all that matters.

In addition to Cainxinth’s list, I’d add:

-Jedi Outcast (in case you don’t have it for PC, and lack a good enough system)
-Morrowind Gold (same as above… not out yet, though)
-Hitman 2
-Silent Hill 2 (it’s worth the $20 at this point)
-Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick (it’s on pretty much every console)
-Sega GT 2002 (it’s a funner game than Project Gotham, in my opinion… driving’s better, cars are better, etc.)

I’ve been hearing good things about The Simpsons: Hit and Run. It’s supposed to be a very well done spoof of Grand Theft Auto. The great thing about consoles is that you can rent the games and try them out. You can try out games that you might not have considered before, and if a game blows, you only wasted about $5.

Don’t forget Splinter Cell, and for the occasional Saturday afternoon mayhem session, Munch’s Oddessy.

Munch’s Oddessy is frequently overlooked, and a really fun game.

SPOOFE, you really prefer Sega GT to PGR? Aren’t the tracks all kind straight? What are the cool cars?

I’m a Project Gotham addict. For me, power sliding through a turn in central park with a 911 GT2 is just about as good as it gets.

Try gamefaqs.com they have great lists of games by category.

Try BB rental stores, they have a $20 per month game rental thingy, one game out at a time for $20 month, two for $35.00 Also, they have buy two used games get one free. Some xbox games are $10 each, so three for $20, selection varies by store.

Also, kbtoys has to give us 30% off on over $30 purchases from 8-14 Oct., instore only.

Ditto on Fable

Also, the revamped GTA3 and Vice City are coming out in a double pack soon for $50.

This game was a total blast. I rented it (and practically finished it) last week and it gets more fun points than most of the Xbox games out there.

No one has mentioned Ghost Recon: Island Thunder. It’s a FPS that really works on the console. I know the PC version is great too but on XBOX Live everyone gets the headset and microphone. It makes for some really intense team play. Plus, with the XBOX version (unlike PS2) you get downloadable content.

Oh, and Halo 2 will be out soon! I’m not sure that will be on the PC.

“No one has mentioned Ghost Recon: Island Thunder.”

I just completed it yesterday, it only has about 7 missions. I didn’t play online though.

BWAAHHAHHAHHAAHAH!!! You poor deluded fool. Unless you think next fall is soon. (Quote me a release date and I’ll sell you a bridge.)
