Are black panties evil?

I’d only judged the garments to evil when the elastic became stuck in my teeth

Hey, that’s the first time someone has flirted with me here! (I guess talking about my panties, instead of GW Bush, increases the odds.) I’m so flattered.

Black panties are not evil, but to me the word “panties” is. Bleah…it makes me think of a guy panting at a peepshow while a gal prances around chirping “TEE HEE! Panties!Panties!Panties!”

Would it be possible for you to buy an adult pair of black UNDERPANTS and take them in like a couple inches on each side? Also, have you considered “flesh” colored underpants maybe? (Assuming they make underwear in or near the color of your flesh.) They don’t “broadcast” as much as white does through fabric; in fact, they continue the color of your skin.

Starting an “I can cook the following really tasty dishes” thread would work even better…

Wouldn’t it be really hard to “take in” something with an elastic waistband?

Why can’t she just go commando? My Mom let me do that at gymnastics, and I never became a raving slut. Well, not yet anyways.

take care when dying clothes at home. Thread used for stitching is chemically treated, and usually does not take dye well. Meaning they stay white.
It can sometimes look nice, sometimes real dorky.

I don’t like the Rit dye idea. I’ve tried too many times with that stuff, and I know it just won’t take, especially on the elatic edge. Ugly grey panties showing are probably worse than white. I like the idea of the Batman ones; I’ll see if I can find them. If not, I’ll try adapting women’s underwear. Shouldn’t be that tricky.

Then again, after reading that article about Abercrombie, I’m going to make sure I ask first what she would be most comfortable wearing.

Don’t use Rit dye. That stuff is the pits.

There are much much better dyes out there. I’ve used dyes similar to the fiber reactive dyes sold by [url=“http://www.dharmatrading.com/”] with excellent results. That site has a ton of information on dyeing in general. (I’ve never used their products, so I’m not making an endorsement of them in particular.)

I have some experience with dyeing things black, having gone through an “everything must be black” phase in high schoool. And I’ve done some tie-dyeing. With the Rit dyes, the colors just don’t come out well. Even if you manage to get the color as dark as you want, they always tend to look a little “off.”

elfje makes a good point about the stitching on most clothes taking the dye differently than the main fabric. This problem will be mitigated to a large extent by using a good-quality dye.

guava–I think it’s really cool that you’re sensitive to this issue. I remember being very embarrassed about my pink flowery underpants showing when I was a kid.

I think it’s a very good idea to look at dancers’ supply sources. Also try figure skating costume suppliers. Maybe cheerleading suppliers? (I’m thinking of activities where the participants show their undies, so they wear those modest brief thingies.)

You will not only NOT find black…but you won’t find red or lepord print or zebra print. They are all for older women. There is a sexual attachment to those patterns/colors

guava, you should try a gymnastics supply catalog like Gym-Kin or Satara Leos. I know they sell leotard liners; they probably sell colored undies as well. There’s nothing worse than the wrong color of underwear peeking out from under a leotard…

I have never, ever had a pair of underwear wherein the crotch didn’t match the rest of the panty. I’m having a hard time picturing what you described in your reply.

Only seven year olds in Special Ops get black panties.

Here’s a place where you can buy matching leotards and briefs, both in pink but it clears up the problem:

I never wore black panties when I was a kid and everyone says that I was nontheless EVIL.

Lieu, you’re my hero.

You know, I’ve never seen black underwear for little girls. I’ve seen more than floral patterns and white–I know my kid has some dark purple, and bright green, and pink, blue, etc. with Hello Kitty on them, so colored underwear is out there, but no black. I think that black is considered to be an “adult” color for underwear, like it or not.

And, yes, most of my kid’s colored underwear does have a white crotch. I’m not sure why, but it does. Maybe some kids are sensitive to the dyes.

I have seen brassieres that look like they would fit my kid (who is six, and certainly does not need one), so you might try checking near the training bra section for more “grown-up” looking underwear in small sizes.

I used to wear tights under my leotard. That might help cover up the undies, too.
