That little example contains words which have been altered or ‘created’ since the middle of the 1980s, starting out as ‘cool’ slang.
Homie = person from home turf = home boy
A’ight: Popped up in the early 1990s, generated by Black rappers. Base word ‘all right,’ previously chopped to ‘right’ then incorporated into gang slang as ‘a’ight.’
Bad mudderfukers = created from bad mother fuckers in the early 70s = shortened to ‘mo’fo’ in the late 70s, early 80s = originally a White term. Changed again in the middle 80s to include the word bad and by the 90s ‘mudderfukers’ was restored from ‘mo’fo.’
Wuzzup = what’s up: initially coined by Whites in the 60s. By the late 70s had deteriorated into 'sup in ‘Black Speak,’ in the 80s promotion of ‘gangsta rap’ by Black singers it became ‘wuzzup.’ Both forms, shortened, still in use.
Crib = home or place of habitation or meeting. Coined in the late 80s from Black Rap. Origin unknown. (Basic meaning similar to baby crib = barred enclosure = possibility that it initially is a jail term for jail cell. Became commonly used due to emphasis on gang style living.
Blow = coke = opposite of ‘sniff or snort’ = coined in the late 1970s. Origin unknown.
Bitches = women = mainly Black women though used as a term for any woman. Origin obvious but came into predominate use in the middle 80s along with the promotion of gang styles.
Cracker = White person = derogatory term. Originated probably over 100 years ago. Two meanings: 1: Mule team driver in Florida and/or Southern States who ‘cracks’ the whip. 2: Slave boss or master who uses whip to discipline slaves. (The latter definition is used as a derogatory term for a White person.)
A progressively ‘creative’ ‘dialect’ is one which is constantly changing because new words are either added, made up or changed from their original meaning. The ‘hippies’ of the 1960s did the same thing.
