Are boys more anal-retentive than girls? (toilet training)

My wife and I have successfully achieved diaperlessness with our two sons. In each case, they were more reluctant to use the toilet for # 2 than for # 1, and usually, during the process of training them, would insist on a diaper to take a dump in…but they generally wouldn’t have accidents in their underwear, they’d let us know when they had to.

My daughter, on the other hand, seems to hardly notice when she lets loose. She uses the potty for urination, but never says a word to us about having to make # 2.

Is this a physiological thing? Does a female have less sphincter sensation, or take longer to develop said sensation, than a boy does? Or is this more likely her own personality quirk or lack of understanding?

Well, having been through it thrice with one boy and two girls, I think I can safely state, “It depends on the kid, not the chromosomes.”

And it has to do with “paying attention”, not sphincter sensations. Some kids just pay more attention to what happens “down there” than others.

It is widely thought that girls are easier to train than boys.
