I used to like these donuts quite well. But now I see them only in the variety pack. I was wondering why they aren’t being sold in the eight pack like they used to? I would think if they were being discontinued they wouldn’t be sold at all. Instead of just in a variety pack.
It is still in their products list. I have an Entenmann’s Outlet about a 5 minute drive from me. We go there and stock up on Thomas’s English Muffins, Arnold’s and Stoneham’s bread varieties. I try very hard to stay way from the chocolate covered donuts but will snatch up a coconut custard pie for the family there.
Not all Entenmann’s bakeries/distributors make and distribute all Entenmann’s products; baked goods brands are similar to soda brands, in that the regional plants may not carry the full product line, especially if the products are less popular in the area. In addition, even if the bakery makes a given product, it may not be included on certain routes. If you continue to have problems finding your doughnuts, you may want to contact Entenmann’s to see if you can find out if you can communicate with the regional bakery and see if you can get them included in your local store’s assortment.
Glazed buttermilk donuts. I think they’ve streamlined the product by offering it in an easy to use styrette, for injection directly into your hardened arteries.
Just two days ago I wondered the same thing about their rich frosted donuts: the store I was in only had the frosted devil’s food donuts in 8-packs. I don’t buy donuts often enough to care much – and, when I do, I tend to buy Krispy Kreme – but I remember being a little sad that I couldn’t find what I wanted.
The buttermilk donuts were my go to naughty breakfast food when I lived in the California Bay Area. When I moved to San Antonio in 2006 I picked up a box of Entenmann’s from the grocery store here and was sadly disappointed, didn’t taste nearly as good as my California ones. Bought another box and had the same result, and that was the last time I bought Entenmann’s. Guess the local bakery has a slightly different recipe or perhaps they aren’t as popular and they just get staler on the shelf here. But thankfully I found that the H-E-B grocery store donuts blow away the Safeway donuts, so I haven’t given up donuts for my naughty breakfast pleasure.
Maybe…heh. It was at an unfamiliar grocery store in Maryland (I live in Virginia), and I was originally looking for Krispy Kreme stuff but when I saw the Entenmann’s display I suddenly had a very strong craving for the rich frosted donuts. I was so, so sad to only find them in the variety packs! They didn’t even have any rich frosted Pop 'Ems!
I went to the outlet, but no they don’t have the buttermilk glazed donuts in the eight pack. They only have two of them in a variety pack. So obviously they still make them but they just don’t put them by themselves.
I don’t eat donuts often, but I LOVED those. I am not a donut fanatic, I actually like them a bit stale as to me, a donut MUST be dunked.
