Been to Black’s, been to More Mesa, been to Secret Beach (Santa Barbara County, CA, and I’m compelled to say two things. For starters, nudists are pretty typical people. Some fat, some skinny. Some hot, some not-so-hot. Some old, some young. Singles, couples, families. Look around at the mall. Then imagine those folks without their clothes at the beach. That’s what you find at nude beaches.
Second, nudism is not really all that erotic. It feels good, but if you’re in it for the gawking, you’re going to feel very unwelcome.

If you love the feeling of being at one with nature, frolicking naked in the water while gazing back at the dramatic cliffs of Maslin’s Beach in South Australia is about as close as you can get.
However, if going to the beach is a bit of a pervy, turn-on thing for you, then you will be disappointed.
Well, suspect away - they don’t care about your opinion! I don’t take my clothes off to impress you; I do it because it feels so good and so natural. If you gawk or make comments you can succeed in making me feel uncomfortable, that’s all. If you mind your own business, and behave as you would on any normal beach, there’s no problem. In other words, please don’t enter us in a beauty contest.
If you are in the habit of saying in public things like “gee, look at the size of the thighs on that girl over there,” you will not fit in at the nude beach.
Finally, if you are just curious as to what it’s like and whether you’d enjoy it, have a go, mate! Just do it!
These beaches are actually clothing-optional; nobody is likely to tell you off if you stay covered. But if you aren’t buck-naked in about ten minutes, and if you don’t feel entirely conmfortable within 15 minutes I would be very surprised. After all, you post on these boards, don’t you, and that mostly means you’re mature, interesting and funny.
Gay is also gay-optional. Nobody will harrass you unless you stroll provocatively into the shrubbery on your own. Gay men very rarely do unconsenting sex.
and finally…
Much as I love that show, surely Wrath, you don’t want us to live by the precepts of a man who broke up with a girl because he knocked her toothbrush into the toilet and then didn’t tell her? Or another time because he thought she had a fungus? Or who made out during “Schindler’s List”? Or who steals bread off old ladies…
Being nude in the open air is a great, natural feeling.

Being able to be nude is a good feeling. Doing so in nature is even better. I’m not a ‘naturalist’ (nudist) but have been to one or two and enjoyed it and not from the aesthetic point which is what all of us who have ever been teenage, hormone-driven boys expect.
Full nudity isn’t as erotic as partial. A bikini will encourage mind and libido more than casual full nudity.

If you’re heading to a beach just to be a voyeur: Shame on you! Expect to get pelted with wet sand or rocks!
If you’re going because you think bathing suits are silly (they always get full of sand), good on ya.
Personally, I like Wreck because it’s got character. Lots of vendors selling things they’re not allowed to sell elsewhere (ah the legal loopholes in not being officially part of any city), body painting, 7k runs come summertime, and occasionally some idiot gets high as a kite and breaks his leg climbing some rocks… prompting the Hovercraft to come along and haul some naked screaming guy to the hospital. 
When I was 16 I went to a topless (not nude) beach in Torremolinos, Spain. Being from conservative, uptight central Illinois, and being 16, I had a big Johnson going on from the time I got on the plane just from thinking about all the nubile young boobies I was going to see all around me.
All sorts of cute teenage girls in my tour group. Hoo boy! I couldn’t wait to see their boobs!
All sorts of exotic Spanish women lying about on the beach with their boobs waving in the breeze, while the exotic Spanish women seductively munched on grapes and olives! Hoo boy! (Or so I was hoping…)
When I got to the beach, here’s what I found: the girls in my tour group kept their tops on, and called us boys “perverts” for expecting them to take theirs off.
Those exotic Spanish women were nowhere to be seen, except for a couple who were too skanky for words. :eek:
I did see topless old women with jugs hanging down to their wastes. shudder I also saw a bunch of topless toddlers and kindergadeners. Woo freaking wee.
So there you have it. Rastahomie’s one and only experience at an almost-nude beach.
Imagine going to a regular, clothing required beach. Now, imagine all of those people without clothes. The exact same thing at every nude beach I"ve been to. Some that are attractive, some that aren’t. As has been posted, if gawking is the reason you’re going then you’re going for the wrong reason.
The first time I went I said to myself that I didn’t think I would go bare. After about 5 minutes I felt more “conspicuous” with my clothes so I stripped down.
A word of advice: get some sun on your white parts before you go - a sunburned butt is just no fun at all.
I also went to a nude beach in Big Sur. Its just a little south of the park entrance.

So are there any in northern Cali? I think my wife and I would like to give it a shot… my fantasy of getting hooked up with a few cute naked chics while at the nude beach has fallen to the wayside (dammit!) but I think it would be fun and liberating…
I live in Sacramento… any advice, oh nude beach goers?

Back in the 70’s, when I was into nekked swimming and bathing, I spent a lot of time at the Russian River. There were numerous places between I five and the Pacific where you could get naked. Don’t know if you still can or not. Even back then, I heard stories about cops making sweeps of the beaches and handing out tickets for public lewdness or whatever bullshit they could come up with, but I spent 4 or 6 hours a day nude, and never saw a cop.
Unless you know someone from the area, you’d just have to travel up there(A short trip) and ask around. It’s worth it for the scenery anyway.
If you’ve never gone nude, I recommend it. I was nervous for 10 or 15 minutes. After that, bathing suits were uncomfortable scratchy things that the gawkers wore on their rounds to ogle us.
How things have changed…when I was in school there, few of the students could be called “cuties”…they went to State…
