New here, and just getting the feel of this forum. I have to say, your comment made me smile.
My suggestion would be: if you’re not sure you’re allowed to mention something at the board, then send a moderator an e-mail or a Private Message asking about it, rather than starting a public thread about it.

It’s called a joke. What exactly do you expect the mods to do? You say that you want a response from them. What do you think they’ll say? Your belief that the mods will have anything meaningful to say about the fact that the SDMB isn’t the only forum on the internet is absurd.
lisalan, you’re going to have to get a thicker skin. People here will respond to you as though you’re already acquainted, and that will include teasing and questioning. Sure, they may go overboard sometimes, mostly in The Pit, but you take offense where none was intended. Just pretend there’s a winking smiley after all the posts to you that you think are mean. Except for AClockworkMelon. For him, you want the internet police.

If you are talking about the Giraffe Boards, it’s not dedicated to ridiculing the Dope although most of the members there came from here and there are a few threads that ridicule the Dope. (Full disclosure: I am an Admin there).
If you are talking about the Snackpit, it is indeed dedicated to ridiculing the Dope. It has been around in one form or another for over five years. Congratulations, lisalan, you have your own thread there now. Everyone is well aware of it. They even advertised here for a while with Google ads.

I always say, there’s no such thing as a stupid question. There are, however, sometimes stupid answers. Not that I’m, going to name names, or point fingers here (partly because I’ve been known to give the occasional stupid answer myself).
