Are there any movies you can watch over and over and never tire of them?

I can’t believe I’m the first person to mention Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And Groundhog Day, of course.

And Ghostbusters. Love that movie.

Thought so - thanks Terentii

Not every day or even every year, but my favorite movie of all time is ‘The Mysterians’. It is one of those movies which are ‘so bad it is great’; a Japanese science fiction movie. It has quite a cult following. I just sold my copy on Amazon for $42.00 , so I’m not the only one that thinks it is great.

RivkahChaya,

I can’t ever before remember seeing a list of movies that contained so many I hadn’t previously seen. I have heard of most of the films you list and I looked up many of them on IMDB and found that most of them were very highly rated.

Given that I am a very serious movie buff and have a huge collection, I am intrigued how it is that you can list so many quality films that I have never seen.

I’d love to know just how it is that you have come to see so many excellent films. Maybe you took a film course in school and the teacher showed these films in class? Or maybe you subscribe to an excellent film critic who published a book and you acquired some of the films at the top of their recommended list?

I’m more than willing to rewatch any movie that I enjoy, but I usually have to be in the right mood. So far, the only ones I’ve found that I’m always up for watching are “Jurassic Park,” “A Knight’s Tale”, and “Raising Arizona”.

There are many other things that would be far worse for you to get hooked on. BoB is one of the best series ever made!

I hope you will enjoy yourself. I always do enjoy myself whenever I watch some BoB episodes. I especially love watching David Schwimmer. Who would have ever guessed that he had so much talent? He is just great!

There is no reason for you to feel hesitant about posting some more. I would love to see more of your favorites.

I ran a projector for an art film house in college. It was the coolest college job ever. But I’m a film buff way back. In high school, I spent Sunday afternoons alone in my room with an 8mm projector watching DW Griffith films. I would circle all the films in the TV schedule that were from the 30s and 40s. And at my college, you could buy cheap passes to see the films showing for the film studies classes without taking the classes.

Plus, I’m originally from NYC, and go back a lot, so I always go to the art houses there.

I could have put other films on the list, but I didn’t want it to get to TL;DR.

The Wizard of Oz is on right now.

BTW: I once wrote Lillian Gish a letter when I was 17, and she wrote me back.

That is a wonderful memory to have.

I remember taking a course in my 2nd year of university. I was taking a very heavy Computer Science program and we had to select one “filler” course. Some of the students chose a Philosophy or English course. I chose a film course and the first half of the semester was all about D.W. Griffith.

I remember the instructor was a very “funny” little man who would start talking about D.W. Griffith’s films and he would forget what he was talking about and have to ask the class, “What was it that I just said?”

Nonetheless, it was the most enjoyable course I took that year. We watched many of Griffith’s films.

I would encourage you to post more of your favorite films. Text is a very inexpensive medium for forums. Forums that post graphics and full motion videos cost hundreds of times as much to store as does text.

So, IMO, you won’t be taking up too much space.

The Two Jakes (Jack Nicholson’s sequel to Chinatown). It’s the DVD I use to test equipment setups - and I always get sucked into watching the whole thing … again.

Labyrinth(I’ve seen it countless times and could probably watch it every day)
My Cousin Vinny
Liar Liar (so dumb, so damn funny)
Bridget Jones’ Diary
Babe (sentimental because my kids watched it so many MANY times)
Aladdin (ditto)
Pirates of the Caribbean
I don’t even think it’s that great a movie, but I’ve seen Secret Window about a million times and could still watch it over and over. I think Johnny Depp does something to me.

Holy crap! Four pages, and no one (including myself, dammit! ) has mentioned The Producers?!?

When I think of movies I love to watch over and over again, that’s the one that automatically springs to mind, ahead even of Casablanca, and I can launch into “Springtime for Hitler” at the drop of a hat!
