Are there any movies you can watch over and over and never tire of them?

“Deutschland is happy and gay!”

Infinitely superior to the overblown 2005 remake:

NOTHING could live up to the original version!

I can watch any really great movie over and over, and look for different things each time.

But I have seen Monty Python’s Life of Brian so many times that I know the entire script by heart - I could do a one-man play of the entire movie from memory. And I still enjoy it every time I see it.

Have you seen the “debate” between an Anglican Bishop and Malcolm Muggeridge on one side and John Cleese and Michael Palin on the other, about whether the movie ridicules Jesus.

No! I’ll have to watch that later. I think it’s bizarre to say it mocks Jesus - Brian isn’t Jesus, and where Jesus does appear in the movie (The sermon on the mount) it’s totally respectful to him.

Although I wouldn’t say the movie is actually kind to the bible. It mocks the people who follow prophets, certainly. And the prophets themselves, if not Jesus in particular.

I’ve tried to go carefully through all four pages, but I didn’t see this one listed. It’s my #1, I know every single line, and it always makes me laugh:

Best in Show

Parker Posey, IMO, was a comedic genius in that movie.

While I appreciate dramatic films, the great ones tend to be too emotional for me to want to watch them over and over. Great comedies, on the other hand, cheer me up every time.

That’s the point they kept trying to make. The host was quite sympathetic to the Pythons, but the old guys couldn’t seem to make that distinction.

This is why I [del]can’t[/del] won’t watch my 2 favorite films too often. I don’t want to become immune to them; I want them to hurt a little every time I watch them.

A lot of mine have been covered;

Jaws
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Searchers
Tremors
Galaxy Quest
Young Frankenstien

A few others:

Dersu Uzala
Princess Mononoke
The Hidden Fortress

Whoa, I love that movie but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone reference it on a message board or anything. Good call!
