Ok here is the deal that I have . I can get a PS1 for around $125 in India. The play station games here come for less than a dollar here.So expensive games is not a problem. Can some one plz tell me if it realy is worth buying the ps1. I have bleem! so I can play the PS games on my comp , will the resolution be better on TV?
The resolution will be no different on your TV than an emulator. However, the picture quality will be worse on a PS1, which is actually a good thing. PS games were intended to be viewed on a TV set, not an RGB computer monitor, and can look blocky and pixellated on a monitor. The monitor is TOO sharp. The same images on a TV screen are just as pixellated and blocky, but that effect tends to blur a bit and look smoother. So in this case, worse is better. Sorta.
You can download for free the legal emulator, Bleem, to see if it works on your computer (they have the trial program on their site) & try it on your computer first. WHy don’t you do that? Then you can see how it looks.
If your user name is any indication that you intend to visit the old homeland with the PS-1 please demur! IIRC if you get caught playing “Bust a Groove” by the Taliban the punishment is being buried in a pit and stoned to death.
Ugh, bleem. Try Connectix’s Vgs instead. Less aggravating in the long run–no paranoid nag screens, just about any game you try will work, the sound is better and the emulation is perfect. No hardware, but it’s not as if Bleem’s hardware graphics acceleration really works anyway.
On the other hand, ps1’s are dirt cheap nowadays and they have a definite instant gratification factor. Turn on tv, insert game, power on, play. That’s it.
Astro I’m from India and in no danger of being stoned to death .I already have tried bleem and have to play in the resolution they select otherwise is 2 blocky. Thanks anyways guys.
The Sony PlayStation is a classic, and worth buying if you can get some great games for it.
Heck, I’m leaving my PS1 behind when I’m moving in two weeks, but since I have Virtual Game Station on my computer, I’ll be bringing along many of my favorite PS1 games so I have something to play with.
