My understanding is amphetamines (legal and illegal) work via dopamine reuptake inhibitors.
In theory, shouldn’t a reputake inhibitor with a stronger affinity than something like meth be a drug that can end a bad meth trip? Wouldn’t that displace the meth (which is dumping loads of dopamine into the system) with something that dumps a far smaller amount of dopamine? or is my biology wrong?
So my question is, is there and is it used for meth overdose? I know that naltrexone is used for opioid overdose since it blocks the opioid receptors. I know that drugs like antipsychotics are used for meth users who end up in hospitals. But are there dopamine reuptake inhibitors with a stronger affinity that can displace the meth, and basically make it useless?
