Are there two versions of the Beach Boys "All Summer Long?"

I used to think the lyrics were “remember when you spilt Coke allover your blouse.” Then I heard it as “milk allover.” Now I swear I heard it as Coke again.

Is one of these songs the BBC required to be changed for product copyright reasons, like “it tastes just like Coca Cola/cherry cola” in the Kinks Lola song?

I’m not even sure how to post here now, so here goes!

These are two of the sites I found that have it as “Coke.” I can’t find any that have “Milk.”

Yes, and I’ve googled it too. But I’m positive I’ve heard “milk.”

Maybe it was a special recording for radio, because of legal issues with the word Coke.

Well, that’s my question.

Maybe “milk” is the lyric from the alternate “Berenstein Bears” universe.

I can’t remember ever hearing the song except in the original studio recording, but I suppose it’s possible that they did it live somewhere with “milk.”

I’m telling ya. There’s definitely a studio version with “milk.” Definitely.

I’ve posted your question in the MB I mentioned in my PM.

Sounds like he’s doing it here.

In your link, I’m hearing “spilled a Coke”

Yeah, PMs. I’m just getting used to this place. Thanks.

I have to say it sounds like milk to me in the link posted by The_Other_Waldo_Pepper.

Sounds like “Coke” to me. Uh oh. Is this one of those “is the dress blue or white?” things? (Or the better analogy would be the one with whether you hear “yanny” or “laurel” in an audio example.) Thing is, when I listened to it in passing, I thought I heard “milk,” but on several repeats and listening closely, I only hear “Coke.”

So after reading your, post I re listened to the song with with my sounds cards’ audio enhancements turned off, and the volume higher, and now I hear Coke. :open_mouth:

I also wound up yanny-or-laurel toggling.

See? That definitely sounds like milk.

Nope. It’s “Coke.” I can’t hear “milk” even if I try.

I listened to Waldo Pepper’s link, the track from the Endless Summer album, the American Graffiti soundtrack, and the 45 single version and every one of them sounds like Coke to me.
