Are there websites for this.....?

I was watching television and the Antique Roadshow was on. A picture of Marilyn Monroe in her teen years was presented and my mind started wandering down various and eclectic paths until it hit one that sparked my interest.

With all of the computer gadgetry these days and morphing, art and such programs, I wonder if anyone has taken pictures of old movie stars and redone them, BUT in today’s’ styles.

Like, Monroe always had that old hairstyle. How would she look with a more modern one and more modern make-up?

The same with some of the silent movie stars. In the 1950s, B&W films had guys wearing pencil mustaches and hair so slicked back that they must have used motor oil. What would they look like today with the modern conservative styles (not gangsta, rap or heavy metal)?

Think of Liz Taylor without the pancake makeup, the post war hair style, at 22. Judy Garland, the singer, without the short, beatnik hair, arched eyebrows and too red lips. Barbara Stanwyick without the puff shoulders, flip curled hair and plucked, arched eyebrows. Even some of the great singers of the war era. (Remember THOSE hairstyles and cloths?)

In those old movies, the stars could be in their 20s but LOOKED like they were in their 30s or 40s because they style was to make young people look like miniature adults. How would they look in today’s world at those ages?

I don’t have the computer for it, but I’d love to see some pictures on how the old greats would look as young actors today. Mary Pickford, with her white, white face, too exaggerated lips and spit curled, tightly done hair would be cool. Plus, remember the flapper era where large boobs were considered crass. (Geez! Were they nuts!) Girls wore their hair tight to their skulls and tried to look boyish. Guys wore their hair parted in the middle and slicked down.

I wonder how many of the old greats, who, to me anyhow, looked a bit homely, might, in today’s world, look pretty or handsome? Guys wore baggy suits, often with the beltline almost up to their ribcage and the coat tail often farther down their legs than today. People on the street looked older in comparison to the average person on the same street today.

Anyone found any websites that would deal with ‘morphing’ the old greats?

They’d have to more than ‘touch up’ Monroe. She was a hippo, they’d have to start on her with an eraser.

Sigh. Definitions of beauty change, but cheap shots at women who don’t fit the current one never do…

Go to a vet that’s also a taxidermist. Either way, you’ll get your cat back. Sig courtesy of the amazing WallyM7

FYI, women are supposed to have curves…maybe you prefer them to look like pre-adolescent boys?

Going back to the OP, there is “hairstyle and make-up” software that allows you to scan in an image (or use a digital camera or whatever) and then play with the hair, colors, etc by adding new styles and the like. Mainly you see it used by salons or at the Clariol counter or whatever, but I’m sure there are home versions available at CompUSA or Best Buy. Granted, you might need to touch up the original a little or look around to find an image that’ll work for it, but I’d think it would be fairly simple if you seriously wanted to set your heart into this task.

Lemme know how Marilyn looks with the Jennifer Aniston cut, ok?

“I guess one person can make a difference, although most of the time they probably shouldn’t.”

Sigh, can’t you folks take a joke?
Sigh, sigh, sigh.

There is a Cosmo program that does that, Jophiel; my wife likes to try different looks for herself with it. That, plus a graphics program like Paint Shop Pro, and we could make Marilyn with a Rachel (or a Farrah). I’ll see what I can do.

      • I don’t know where Sentinel lives, but every Wal-Mart I have wandered through that has a computer software aisle, has at least two or three of these “makeover” types of programs, and electronics stores usually have four or five different kinds.
      • Also there is a particular piece of software that can make a 3-d picture of someone’s face from two different photos. I don’t know who makes it or how well it works or anything else about it; I doubt it works perfect, but it’s said to get pretty close. You also could use Bryce or another 3-D program and put Marlyn on Jenny Craig if you wanted to and put any kinda clothes on her you wanted - or not - just don’t go puttin’ bras on yer head and wiring up Barbie dolls! - MC

Great answers, but I asked if there are any websites out there already doing this?

Well, Whitney has a page where she gives girly makeovers to photos of male stars…but that might not be exactly what you’re looking for.

Thanks. I looked at it and it looks like a kid did the work. I was wondering if there are any sites where the pictures look professional.

Like, imagine Monroe with straighter hair, slightly thinner face and better make-up. Or James Cagney with a modern hair cut and better suit.

Wig Out! Cosmo Make-Over, etc are a couple of programs that do this. Also Morph programs, of which there are several do this on home PCs.
