I’m looking for a new city to move to. I don’t have many requirements-just no snow, low cost of living, and relatively easy to find a job in. Hell, I’ll work at McDonald’s again, I’m not really picky. I’ve pretty much narrowed my choices down to Savannah, New Orleans, and Jacksonville. I’ve lived in Tallahassee before, and might be willing to go back, but because of personal reasons, I’d rather not right now. I’m wanting to stay in the southeastern area, because of family, so if anyone knows of another decent city in that region, please, let me know! If anyone lives in any of these cities, or has lived there before, can you tell me about it? Safe to live, would you reccomend it for a single 19 year old girl? Would I be able to afford a one bedroom apt with a paycheck from a McDonald’s management position? Anything you can tell me would be helpful, I’m not finding much on the net besides touristy info. Thanx a ton!
Not sure how much help I’ll be, but at least this will bump you back to the top – I posted a similar query a few weeks ago, asking where in North or South Carolina I should move to (I’m in D.C. metro area). I think I posted it in GQ and it got moved to this forum, if you care to look for it. (I don’t know how to do links). Anyway, a lot of folks voted for Charleston, S.C. Perhaps you’re not searching your city web sites enough. There should be links to employment opportunities, housing, etc. I found a lot of info on Charleston including apartment listings with their rents. Someone suggested Asheville, which is in in western N. C. in the mountains. I visited Asheville’s web site and was impressed. I’m sure other dopers will chime in with suggestions. Good luck.
Thanx for the advice…I’ll go look for your thread
