I just re-read my first post to this thread, and I’d like to offer an apology to featherlou and hope that she will accept it. Here it is:

Holy cow, that was obnoxious, and I’m sorry you even had to read it. What I’m taking away from this thread is the idea that colloquialisms on the North American Continent seem to be “regional” rather that “national,” and I’m really sorry for popping off like a jerk.

Hey, no problem, mang. I was actually thinking about what you said, and I realized that Canadians like to do this kind of thing a lot, and I think I’ve figured out why - it’s because we’re such a young nation. We’re still in the process of hashing out our national identity - sort of like a teenage country.
