Are we at Trump’s tipping point?

And how, exactly, does that refute that what a President does can move the markets?

No, of course I don’t agree!

Seriously, what kind of question is that? Don’t be silly, please.

If the election were tomorrow, I’d agree. Six months can feel like two years in Politics.

Trump if you think about it accomplished a lot under heavy fire from the press, most of which is just an extension of the Democratic party.

I think he wins re-election, it’s not like the Democrats have Bill Clinton or Barack Obama on the bench.

There is a 900 lb gorilla on the bench- the Mueller investigation results. When that comes out, re-election will be off the table and the struggle will be for him to avoid the death penalty. L

A perennial favorite! The old songs are such fun to sing, even when you have the lyrics wrong.

LOL

(you’re not privy to some non-public information about the Mueller investigation that the rest of us aren’t, are you?)

That’s not a claim I ever disagreed with. Try reading what I wrote, not Sherrerd’s mischaracterizations of what I wrote.

I certainly wish I was privy to inside info, but he runs a pretty tight ship. I have the most sincere hope that he avoids the death penalty- not only am I opposed to it but he most definitely does not deserve martyrdom. I hope he spends the remainder of his days incarcerated, watching news clips of his name being taken off of buildings throughout the world and knowing that his children are doing hard time as well.

For someone who runs a tight ship, his bilge pump is running 24/7.

Then why make silly claims about what will happen “when that comes out”? It harms your credibility.

Do you honestly believe that there is no chance that the Mueller investigation will find any evidence of significant wrongdoing?

I can vaguely understand believing that there is a chance that the investigation will come up empty, but the certainty that a man who has spend the past five decades being duplicitous (a kind way of putting it) has a squeaky clean backstory seems difficult to square.

I won’t say that I’m 100% certain that it will come up with anything huge, but the idea of being 100% certain that it won’t seems silly to me.

Would Donald be this rattled if there was nothing to it? Would Republicans be in attack mode on Mueller and the FBI if it was a witch hunt? Would Devin Nunes make a complete ass of himself if there was not only smoke, but a four-alarm fire? If you take Donald, Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, and Jared I seriously doubt there will be zero charges against the lot of them. In fact, at least 3 if not all 5 will be charged with felonies.

If there were nothing to it, they would welcome an investigation to clear their names. That’s how innocent people respond, anyway.

We in the public are not supposed to know what Mueller is doing. To challenge us to know is utterly meaningless, and cannot falsify anything that you fear. To say that because we don’t know about it, there is nothing happening is ignorant. We, the public, have resources: inference and induction, based on current publicly available information. If you want to take arms against that sea of troubles, you just have to be kidding.

No, but I honestly believe that there is no chance of Donald Trump getting the death penalty (which is what BobLibDem’s post was claiming: “the struggle will be for him to avoid the death penalty”). Does that not seem wildly far-fetched to you?

Pay attention. I never claimed “there is nothing happening”. I claimed it was a special kind of stupid to think that Trump might get the death penalty.

This is stupid bullshit, and very wrong. I’m perfectly innocent (so far as I know), but I wouldn’t “welcome” the police searching my car or home to clear my name, and I wouldn’t “welcome” the IRS digging through my previous returns, and I wouldn’t “welcome” the ATF getting their dirty paws all over my gun collection even though everything I own is perfectly legal. Most people don’t “welcome” official investigations and scrutiny of their actions, even when innocent.

That’s true. It’s the equivalent of chanting “lock her up” at a Trump rally. Take it seriously, not literally.

You think that’s what we should be striving for here in the SDMB: to have your arguments be the left-wing equivalent of some “lock her up” chant?

You guys were talking past each other. Bob didn’t say he expected Trump to get the death penalty.
