Are we humans aliens from the futuer?

Are aliens actually humans from the future? Could they be the product of human evolution in million years from now? With the attribute of having a big head (bigger brain), big eyes (better visual to survive), tall and skinny (technology make u lazy), could they be us? Then the UFO could be the time machine for travelling back in time. When people have the concept of a time machine, they think of ppl from the future who can travel back in time. If that is possible, shouldn’t we have already been invaded from these ppl of the future? We are – by aliens! So, for those scientists who tried to search for extraterristial in Mars and in galaxy, they have never found much adequate information cuz aliens are really us but from the future. They proabably live on earth but perhaps in a different dimension or time period.

sure, why not.

I’m from the Futuer! It’s next to the mall!

There was a fairly recent GD thread about this and also many more in the archives. Sure, its possible. But theres no real proof that the aliens even really exist much less that we’re their ancestors. So I’ll agree with Harmonix. Sure, why not?

OK, I’ll bite!

If aliens ( as in those goofy looking Close Encouters type creatures ) are really just humans from the future, then why haven’t they tried to fix any of the things that seem likely to exterminate the Human race? Like, say, the continued threat of global thermonuclear warfare, increasing toxicity of every level of Earth’s ecology, over population and depletion of natural resourses, biological or chemical warfare, pandemic diseases, and finally, Man’s general stupidity.

Wouldn’t it be in their best interests to help out? Would make their future better, right? Oh yeah, it’s been proven that temporal paradoxes can’t exist. See this site.

So then we’re left with the possibilty that these alien human things inhabit a different reality from ours. Why would they come here? Would they even know we exist? There are no different realities. See this site for proof. Minor nit: if they’re from the future, that is a different time period.

Another minor nit: most encounters describe short thin creatures, not tall. And big eyes are not neccesarily a survival need. Look at amoebas.

Well, as debates go, this was fun.

Ex, don’t take me seriously. I’m naturally a cynic and a wannabe comic. Debates are welcome about the comic part.

Welcome to the boards (1st post, right?) and have fun. If you really do believe in aliens, you are not alone. Personally, I’m postponing my descision til later.

the temporal prime directive?

All right. It’s late, and I’m bored…

The future-human aliens can’t fix all of those things, because their existence depends on them. They are the product of genetic mutations that are the result of the combination of thermonuclear warfare, too much ozone in the wrong places and too little in others, a worldwide smallpox vaccine that goes bad, and cellphone radiation. They only come back from the future to bet on sports, play the lotto, and because you can’t find a decent pizza in the 39th century.

The most recent thread on this topic was here, by the way.

Funny how sometimes a claim can constitute evidence for itself.

Not really, they would alter the future, and most likely, never exist.

oops, missed cstamets post, sorry!

Aha, footzzzz, there is the rub! They wouldn’t be altering the past because they would be altering the past. Picture: in this future you speak of (which I doubt exists, because I haven’t seen it yet), the alien menzies are thinking of going to the past, which may include our future. But, by them contemplating it, it becomes obvious that going into the past is their future since they hadn’t done it yet. Then, when they do come here from the future, which may yet be our future, and they leave, their visit becomes past to us even though it hasn’t happened yet because they are in the future when they travel to the past. Thus, the altering of their future happens in the past which is altered sometime in the future.

Whew! I’m glad that’s past.

So, what your saying is, that they (sort of) bring the future with them?

or at least, it’s THEIR future, because they are aging, and their time’s progressing?

and that’s where different “dimensions” come into play?

(last post for now, I swear)

It’s an interesting idea, Extrovertive, but none of this goes any way toward explaining what the hell all that anal probing and cattle mutilation is about.

If there are aliens, and they are us, then why are they interested in our anal cavaty? I mean, time-travel has to be expensive, right? Why go back to only look at our poopers?

Also, for the record, I think that the “abductions” are a modern version of incubus and succubi.

What about if the future aliens (who are really our descendants) travelled back in time and (perhaps inadvertently) seeded the then-sterile primordial Earth with bacteria, giving rise to all terrestrial life, including themselves?

What about if one of their time machines went wrong and actually caused the quantum fluctuation that gave rise to the Big Bang and brought our universe into existence?

Hmm?

Really bakes your noodle eh?

Theres actually supposed to be a solution to this paradox. IIRC in an example where you go back in time and kill your father your father would remain dead because the event of killing him took place before the event of you going back in time. Wether or not you continue to exist in that time I don’t quite recall.

I don’t think that a causal loop (something causing itself) qualifies as a paradox. Sure, it exists without an external cause, but so does the universe (if we define the universe as “everything”). If something prevents itself from happening, like killing your grandfather before he met your grandmother, that’s a paradox.
