Well, I can certainly say with confidence I don’t watch daytime TV. I went to school, and then I started working! But I am so thrilled with Netflix so I can watch some decent TV!

The short answer to the OP is that people as a collective group are often really that stupid, and Them Wot Make Television learned long ago that catering to the folks on the uphill side of the bell curve is a surefire way to make money. Focusing on stupid shows aimed at stupid women ignores the many stupid shows aimed at stupid men and the many stupid shows aimed at stupid people of both genders.

I don’t mind a female newscaster or even a talk show host as long as she does it right. I agree with the OP. Most don’t and pointedly show people (not just dumb men) how stupid they are.
