It is indefensible that she was harassed by people while grieving over the loss of her father. Those who used the opportunity to say anything but express their condolences for her loss were assholes. I don’t think you’ll find anybody here saying otherwise. I also don’t believe they represent the overwhelming majority of people on the left.
Who is telling you that there is no police presence in democratic areas?
Okay…while it’s tragic that her father died, and there are some obnoxious jerks online, there’s nothing in that story that says that the police department has said that Democrats are on their own, and that they’re going to only attempt to protect and serve Republicans.
You’ll be relieved to know that nationally, Police Unions support Democratic candidates significantly more than GOP candidates. Here are the stats since 1994. And while there may be a decrease in contribution towards Democratic Party politicians, it is by no means as overwhelming as you seem to think. In fact it may not be a statistically significant change from previous years.
Sure there can be, vote for democratic sheriffs, they have never been reported to not service Republican areas. Otherwise, what you imply is to tell all to kowtow to authoritarians that will do more harm then.
IOW, that was a very telling thing, if there are republican leaning police departments that will not serve democratic areas, then what you said is more of a reason to vote the rascal Republicans out.
Have you taken into account that a lot of people are saying it in your analysis?
You mean the ones that live in Long Island?
Individual donations from police seem pretty democratically distributed:
Like PAC money, contributions from individual police officers have gone to politicians on both sides of the aisle, representing an array of politics. Among the top recipients in 2020 are President Donald Trump, Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), all of whom had 2020 presidential bids, according to itemized donations above $200 reported to the FEC.
Police and military also shouldn’t be used to attack innocent civilians and certainly not to murder them in the streets with impunity, which is why so many people are voting Democratic this year.
I know this because a lot of people are saying it. Are you?
No one is telling me that, what I think is going to happen is that you will see less police presence in democratic areas.
Cops are not going to risk themselves, but those communities will have to decide what type of public safety do they want.
That’s true. Yes, I am saying that.
People also should not be smearing all police/military like that and should advocate that the police/military be politically neutral.
Why I started the thread is because I am warning people here that police unions will endorse the GOP, like the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police’s John McNesby.
Police unions should not be involved with white supremacist groups like Proud Boys, that makes police unions look worse than they are already.
How could that happen? For example, I live in a suburb of San Francisco. ALL areas around here are “Democratic areas”. The small city I live in has its own police force, and we are a very Democratic city, like all the ones around us. How would our city’s police force avoid the Democratic areas?
Stating that the police (and to a much lesser extent the military) attack innocent people in the street is an observation of things that are happening or have recently happened, not a smear. A “smear” would be the insinuation that the police will refuse to do their jobs and will willingly endanger innocent people in the process purely for political reasons.
I think you have a fundamental lack of understanding of economics and job markets. Police will work where they get paid. If they are paid to work in San Francisco or New York, regardless of how blue those metropolitan areas are, that is where they will work. It’s completely wrong headed to believe otherwise.
My thought exactly. In New York City, what does he think is going to happen? Cops pretty much have to work in the area around their precinct - it’s not like they can all decide to patrol Staten Island every day because they hate Democrats.
Unions have the absolute right under the Constitution to endorse whoever they choose, and in fact, most unions have endorsed Biden.
And that second link - doesnt say at all what you think it says, just the exact opposite “We have recently been informed that members of the Proud Boys were present outside FOP headquarters this week following a visit by the vice president,” McNesby said. “If we were aware of their presence, we would have escorted them off our property. At no time were these individuals allowed inside of our building. Philadelphia police officers, FOP leadership and members condemn their hateful and discriminatory speech in any form.”
The Proud Boys disagree:

You believe those assholes? On a tweet?
And even so, how does that disprove that the Police said?
@Yankees_1996_Champs: Have you read any of the arguments and cites provided to you that debunk your claims or are people generally wasting their time, swiftly?
They are going to do that from now on, Giuliani and Kerik and the police unions recommend that they do; they are going to patrol Republican areas only because they feel the Democratic areas are too antipolice.
Yes, police reform, but when you threaten cops, etc. that becomes a problem. How will the Black Lives Matter movement be taken seriously when you have agitators causing problems for the movement?
What this thread is about is that most police unions will vote heavily Republican and probably for a generation.
