Are you dong a Star Wars Rewatch in Anticipation of Episode IX?

So the grand finale of the main Saga is upon us. Are you planning to rewatch the movies to gear up for its December release? If so, how? One at a time? A huge marathon (I think I am too old for all of them in a row but you should jump in with both feet!)? And which movies to include? And What order?

For myself, I am planning to do a rewatch in Episode order. Probably one or two movies a weekend in the weeks leading up to release. I am even going to include Episode one (shock!).

Definite includes: all eight episodes in order from Phantom Menace to Last Jedi

Almost Definite Include: I am 95% sure I am going to watch Rogue One in between Episodes 3 and 4.

Not Quite as Definite Include: The Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars Seasons in between Episodes 2 and 3. They are fun, great animation and you can watch both in one sitting unlike the later series which would take 6 weeks. Also if my memory serves they lead right up into the beginning of Episode 3.

Possibly but Probably Not Include: Solo in between Episode 3 and R1 or 4. I liked Solo (better than many I think) but it feels like it would be too different and not enough connected to the rest. Especially if I am putting R1 in this spot.

So what, if anything do you have planned?

My plan is that I will probably see the movie, maybe while it’s still in theaters, but possibly on streaming. I have no plans to “prepare.”

I just spoke about this with my daughter(age 10) yesterday. My kids have seen:

Star Wars
Empire
Return of the Jedi
Force Awakens
Last Jedi
Rogue One
Solo

They have not seen the prequels, but I told my daughter that we could watch all of them to lead up to Episode IX. I have the originals on dvd, so I’m pulling those out.

So, yes, we’ll do a re-watch, though the prequels are new for my kiddos.

Nope. When the OT was recently replaying on a cable channel, while watching ANH I came tothe realization that I’ve seen the OT enough. I know it well enough that–while I still like it–I may never need to watch it again. Trying to rewatch the prequel triliogy proved to me that my earlier judgement of the movies weren’t too harsh and the movies really are steaming piles of shit–I hate them so much I’ll never watch them again. And the TFA and TLJ are so limp and lackluster that I may watch TLJ again because I don’t remember it so well, but otherwise I have no need to ever see those again.

(Of course I’ll still watch all future movies and TV series like the sucker that I am.)

I will defiintely rewatch VIII (which I liked for the most part but do see its flaws)
Not sure about any others --depends on what else in in my Netflix queue in December

Considering that the original trilogy has been on TV about every other month or so for the past several years, I have no desire to deliberately rewatch any of those again in anticipation of Episode 9. Same for the prequel trilogy- they’re not on as often, but often enough. I might watch Revenge of the Sith again though; that one is the one of the first six that I haven’t seen except for the original time in the theater.

I may watch TFA and TLJ again though; I’ve only seen TFA in bits and pieces on cable, and only once. TLJ only once in the theater.

Prequels are much better than the whatever-the-fuck the current movies are called.
I will watch it in theatres and thats it.

George, we sincerely owe you an apology.
