Are you famous?

I’m afraid you’ll have to. I’ve decided not to pursue my acting career until I turn 18 so my parents won’t be involved in such things.

I went once.

The guy who should have won got sabotaged.

That’s all I really remember about it.

The past few years have resulted in various quotes of mine appearing in mainstream media coverage (most but not limited to online articles) about internet fraud and phishing, as well as a fairly widespread level of recognition from other like-minded individuals who work for various internet industry companies. That’s about as “famous” as this reluctant geek hopes to get, and it was not anything I ever expected to happen.

No wonder I never cuaght the announcers on OLN saying, “And there’s Boo Boo Foo making a break from the pelleton!”

OK, so Julia Roberts is the one who’s not dead … yet. That’ll make keeping them sorted out easier!

If you look like you could be Sandra Oh’s kid, it’ll be worth the wait. Good luck in any case.

Nope. Not even in the dart league that I won five consecutive championships. I think they are “denying” me.

I have been “86ed” from a couple of casinos. I don’t think that counts.

I’m Brian too, and so’s my Wife!

No, but wait till my papers on Quantum Loop Gravity get published.

I’m not, though I do have my own imdb entry and wikipedia link, which is slightly cool.

I’m not responsible for either, at least as far as creating the links.

I’m Jared from the Subway commericals.

Whatever you do, don’t search for your own name on this board!

I am the world’s leading supplier of conventional, nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.

Well, for a flight simulator.

One flight simulator.

One that’s mostly popular with Mac users.

But hey, I am the guy!

::pause::

i go kill me now.

I’m somewhat well known around San Leandro. I wasn’t popular in high school, exactly, but everyone knew who I was. Perhaps it had something to do with my habit of debating with certain teachers in the middle of class. Also, I was in the local paper once for a “man on the street” type interview, and I was seen doing a wheelie on the local access channel.

I’m really really really famous.

To members of the website I work for.

For one week in May, my picture was in every newspaper in a 25 mile radius, including the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette*. I was mentioned fleetingly on the statewide newscast (KARK-4), also. Professional photographs of me will be hanging in the foyer of the building where I work, as well as our main public offices.

  • I was actually on the front page of two of the papers. I was only on page three of the Democrat-Gazette.

I’m not famous for anything and never will be, but my neighbour’s children’s grandfather was quoted in a newspaper article that I saw posted on Usenet once. Please, don’t get all silly over it; I can’t stand the fawning and adulation.

I’m not famous (few video game writers/librarians are) but three articles I’ve written have been picked up by Slashdot, which is always a thrill.

I think I’m relatively well-known in the circles of a certain popular game. Maybe not. Depends on whether you pay attention to the particular aspect I… specialize in.

I enjoyed some brief fame in my old industry as a result of some trade magazine articles.
