I’ve seen some Hillary and Bernie stickers (sometimes on the same car). Nothing for Trump. I know I’m in a Democratic bubble, but I would be very surprised if someone around here was a) going to vote for Trump and b) wanted anyone to know it.
I still see more Obama bumper stickers than for either candidate. I see almost no Trump stickers and probably more Bernie stickers than Hillary. I saw one Bernie sticker with Bernie crossed out and saying “OK Hillary”. I think that was done by hand, but I didn’t get a good enough look. It might have been made that way.
I’ve seen yard signs only for local candidates, but I believe those are mostly from the primary which was a few weeks back.
Very few. Fewer yard signs. A coworker says his Trump signs keep getting stolen. Probably a few more Bernie and anti-Hilary bumper stickers than positive for either candidate. I think this state is just waiting for things to end. Not really any chance for Trump here.
I’ve seen plenty of political bumper stickers, about general political ideas (mostly along the lines of “blah blah blah guns blah blah The Bible blah blah.” As for the election proper, I’ve seen maybe 20: 18 Trump, 1 Hillary, 1 Johnson (my own).
Side note: I’m not a fan of Johnson, but whoever came up with the “feel the Johnson” slogan is genius. My inner 12-year-old appreciates it.
I see this thread on Saturday. So I was looking on Sunday as we took a drive through the Eastern NH lake country and then over into Western Maine and back. Almost all rural roads.
0 bumper stickers. For yard signs 0 for Clinton and 9 for Trump.
In Denver, I’ve seen more bumper stickers (and t-shirts) for Bernie than I’ve seen for Hillary, and I’ve seen more bumper stickers for Cthulhu’s quadrennial campaign than I’ve seen for Bernie’s.
Nothing for Trump; I know he has his supporters here, but they aren’t being public about it.
10-15 Trumps, only one Hillary.
Twin Cities, Minnesota – mostly Hillary ones. A few Trump, often on pickup trucks with white supremacist stuff on it, too.
Best one I noticed lately:
Faded out Bernie sticker, hand-made yellow arrow “Endorses” ==> fresh Hillary sticker.
Going back to the OP, after reading this I’ve been much more aware. It is noticeable how few outward signs of support there are compared to other elections in my lifetime.
See yard signs for Hillary, none for Trump. Gotta Hillary sticker on my F150.
I’ve seen Johnson yard signs, Trump yard signs, and Trump stickers. Nothing for Hillary. More Obama Biden stickers than anything else and an occasional Gore sticker. Come to think of it I don’t recall seeing Kerry stickers in 04, just Bush.
That may be related to an old political saying *Lawn signs don’t vote *. And given all the other forms of communication that campaigns can spend money on, I think they are decreasing in importance.
Lawn signs may influence your neighbors, but many people don’t even know their neighbors any more. But they do know their Facebook friends, and are more likely to be an influence on them.
(Also, many communities have limits on when lawn signs can be displayed. Here, fo example, they can’t be put up until 46 days before the election, and must be taken down by 10 days after it.)
I’m seeing lawn signs for local officials: mayor, city councilor, people like that. But none for president.
Yesterday when I was about to load my groceries in my car, a couple was standing there, reading my Giant Meteor 2016 sticker and laughing. We agreed this election cycle sucks! Then I saw my first Trump sticker on the back window of an SUV. In big red letters between 2 blue bands with white stars, it said TRUTH and in small blue letters beneath, it said TRUMP. I doubt that it meant Truth over Trump.
I’ve seen very little that’s current. Seen more Sanders than Clinton, but still very few bumper stickers of any ilk. Unlikely I’ll see any Trumps in this area (MoCo/PG County) unless I were to head over the Bay Bridge, but I did see a deteriorated “Mitt” the other day.
Since seeing this thread, I’ve been paying more attention to election paraphernalia. I agree the Trump stickers have a slight edge, and are frequently on trucks. Clinton stickers are more often on cars, and they are usually on the back glass.
I wonder if it’s self-selection at work. A previous poster pointed out that modern car bumpers aren’t great for stickers any more. Trucks are the only vehicles with chrome bumpers, and (I’m guessing) truck owners are more likely to be conservative. Therefore, more Trump stickers are being seen (not just here in Texas).
I’ve seen very few bumper stickers or yard signs. The national campaign did have an effect on the most common yard sign I’d seen before the conventions. Before Pence got picked for VP there were a lot more “Pence Must Go” yard signs. Anti-Pence seemed to be more common than pro-Presidential signs/stickers during the primaries. This being a redder area, and some of them being supporters of other Republicans, it’s kind of humorous.
Thanks Donald. Just remember, no give-backs!
I put a Gary Johnson sticker on my car yesterday.
Two huge canvas yard signs went up in my area a day or two ago. Coming from one direction, one reads, “Trump or Traitor”, the other way is, “Remember Benghazi”. And a whole bunch of regular Trump/Pence signs edging the lawn.
