hundreds.
We can’t talk about our experiences on any other message board? I’m not arguing at all…I just want to be sure I understand the rule. (I was referring to televisionwithoutpity.com, BTW.)
I am confused on this one, he was joking and **Sarahfeena ** took it as a joke.
never mind
This post has been green banana’d by the Green Bananist!
Y’know…much as I found it semi amusing…I so do not see that going over well…
Was that a joke? I can never tell without winking smile.
I love you. And by love, I mean hate. Or love, possibly.
I’m laughing and shaking my fist all at once - I feel like an old man popping his Viagra while simultaneously yelling at the kids on his lawn.
“Damn kids. Get off my dick.”
TARDL… had a lot of value to contribute to the Dope. Sadly, he was only able to see himself in opposition to others. He was unable to distinguish *agreement *from mindless conformity, and therefore believed that the only way he could be “true to himself” was to maintain a totally contradictory stance to everyone else. So he began threads specifically calculated to inspire opposition and outrage. Unfortunately, this is also defined as trolling. I’ll miss his positive contributions, but not his inability to share them without picking a fight.
You know, I think your on to something there. I think that about sums it up for me.
Yep. Well said, lissener.
This has got to be one of the stupidest personal assertions I’ve ever read out of you. C’mon Dr Phil, do Reeder next.
I’ll miss him. He was entertaining, enthusiastic, thought-provoking and downright legitimately helpful in CS. Still, he hads to go. He was being a jerk. I don’t think he was being a troll on purpose. I really do think he thought he was in the right. That’s the problem though. He ALWAYS thought he was in the right, and would act accordingly with excess gusto. Oh well.
I find it interesting and sad that TLDRIDKJKLOLFTW was banned for “being a jerk” when there are some posters whose only contributions to a large subset of threads are to be hostile and hateful to posters and associated groups. Like those who live for the opportunity to tell us that Christians are evil, that people who are pro-life are immoral, and that conservatives are heartless bastards (and I’m sure there are others that do likewise against liberal views, but these stand out for me). Now that search is working again we could probably produce 50 or more cites each for multiple posters being jerks in this way, yet they never receive warnings. (okay, one person got yelled at for saying they liked ash wednesday so they could spot idiots, but other than that, I’ve yet to see a warning for things much worse)
So… as long as you espouse a fairly popular counterview you can be as hostile to others as you want, but if it’s not a popular alternative view you get warnings of dubious legitimacy then banned? Like I said, interesting.
I notice your post is entirely cite free.
Ne’ermind; fixed.
Serious question for elfkin, if you don’t mind answering…
I’ve noticed a similar sentiment expressed before and although I’ve seen some of what you’re talking about, I’m probably on the ‘wrong’ side of the fence to have noticed it overtly. However, if it is as bad as it sounds according to your post, I’m not sure I could deal with it if I felt the same way. I mean, if that’s how I perceived things on say, a really conservative, fundamentalist type board, I wouldn’t post there. Why do people subject themselves to things they think are unjust if they don’t get anywhere changing things?
I hope that makes sense and no, I have no desire to see you leave. I like reading your posts and am honestly curious why anyone would put up with something they feel is so far off.
Now I apologize for hijacking and thank you for your time.
Whener I see “TLDR” I can’t help but think “Top Loader”. Although he’ll always be Vice Chancellor Ozone to me.
Now can we please do something about this guy?
