Upsetting topic, dumbass move by Argent Towers, heat of the moment, etc. But yes, he did get called a pedophile and some people argued that even if it wasn’t any kind of pedophilic act, it should be treated like one.
Not to mention all of the discussion about “grooming” earlier in this thread. I genuinely doubt anyone was suggesting he was sending the kid the name of the book so he could cut his hair or give him a shave.
I don’t know about that – I just did a Google search on “shaved teens” and you wouldn’t believe how many hits I got!
Maybe you should add “I’m not Argent Towers” as your custom title.
I think you would have to get special permission, though. AT seems to have a very good sense of humor (poor judgment on the current issue notwithstanding), so I don’t think he’d object to it.
I think only one person mentioned possible “grooming.” The suggestion that this thread has been a “lynch mob” or a pile up of people accusing AT of being a pedophile is a false one, plain and simple. One person made an elliptical suggestion that nobody else agreed with. That’s it. Those rushing to decry the mob mentality are either not reading or not comprehending the thread. Their own offenderati indignation is far more ridiculous and immature than the fictional thread they’re purporting to denounce.

I think the best suggestion is for people to actually read the thread and respond to individual poster’s concerns without trying to coast by on saying “Everyone was saying <this>” or “that whole big, angry mob of party poopers was saying <that>.”

If you want to look at the posts I collected and tell me that if all those posts had been directed at you on the very first page… If you can tell me that you would not feel piled on after getting that response on the very first page, then I will say you are tougher than me, and I like to think I’m pretty tough when it comes to letting cliquee internet posters bounce off.

AT got piled a little for doing something stupid. he was not accused of being a pedophile or of “grooming” or any of this other bullshit. There were also no cries for censorship of the board.
