Something is not right here, I could not find the Carlo’s in Tempe, I did drive around looking for it and I could not find it. Checking the official site:

It only mentions the other 2 locations, seems that the Tempe location was closed.

That was mighty nice of you to scout ahead like that; I’m sorry that Tempe one wasn’t there. (I hope you didn’t lose too much time looking for it.)

My guess is that it’s probably the Phoenix location to which ** umop ap!sdn** was referring. I’ve sent her an e-mail trying to verify if that’s the place.

Let’s give it another day for her (or anyone else) to respond, and then we can set the final place. I think that should give everyone enough time to make plans.

Don’t weigh my input too heavily because I’m not completely sure I can make it yet, but for what it’s worth, I think that on a scale of 1 to 10, Carlos O’Brien’s is about a 3 and Los Dos Molinos is a 15.

Oooh! I loved my first Dopefest…even thought I thought I wouldn’t and almost didn’t go. I met some very wonderful people and, actually, it was a get together because Coldfire and his wife were going to be there.

Now it’s Skipmagic, eh? Seems we only get together in these parts when we have an important person coming around.

I’m for it. I’ll be there after we figure out where “there” will be… I also didn’t get to meet Cisco last time as I think he fell busy or sick or one of those. So this should be fun.

And of course, out of the four pit threads I’ve started, only one was toward a member of the boards…so I can apolgize in person to SkipMagic for it.

It is a quiet restaurant (background music is not loud) with a little bar and it is located south of Scottsdale, close to Tempe.

You don’t find much Mexican seafood in Scottsdale, but Acapulco Bay admirably fills the niche. The ceviche and fried calamari are topnotch munchies. If you’re famished, a platter of mojarra, or whole tilapia, should cure what ails ya. And the pulpo or camarónes in a fiery red diabla sauce will make you weep tangy tears of joy. Great chips and salsa, too, the latter served in little molcajete.

Aww, geez, GIGObuster, that’s a mighty kind of you, and I certainly appreciate it. But since Coldfire is only paid in clogs and kralaps, I could see where, despite being a gracious offer on your part, it was a necessity someone pick up his tab.

The Scene
A converted residence in south Scottsdale houses this treasure cove of authentic Mexican seafood. If you don’t dine on the tiny patio, you’re still in the shade of giant, knotted fruit trees–painted colorfully down to the last paper mache orange. The casual atmosphere can sometimes mean having to flag down your server, but if you’re not in a hurry, just relax and pretend you’re vacationing somewhere balmy.

The Food
The appetizer platter is a bounty for the indecisive palate and features remarkably tender octopus and a tangy crab salad drizzled with lime. Try the seafood kabobs wrapped in salted bacon (shrimp, scallops and crab grace each skewer) or check out the house favorite–the Azteca shrimp.
