Dean Saxton is an aspiring little Arizona hatemonger. Co-opting a maneuver made famous by the transcendent holiness of the Westboro Baptist Church, he scrawed “YOU DESERVE RAPE” and staged a one-douche counter-protest against the local “Take Back the Night” event and that April is “Sexual Assault Awareness Month.” (April, infamously being the name of several goddam harlots.)
As a surprise to no-one, he is loving every minute of his growing notoriety. Which I expect will last until he graduates and has to apply for a job somewhere not in Afghanistan.
Also, I’m crossing my fingers for the WBC lawyer family to sue this guy for copyright infringement.
I’m sure he is a total dick. The good news is this could be one more sign of the Phelps’ slow slide into obscurity: someone is trying to out-Phelps them. On the downside, this loser realized how much attention you can get by holding empty “protests” that consist of nothing except offensive signs. Do we have to indulge this guy with buckets of attention the same way we do with the Phelps Klan? We don’t have to pay attention to these fuckers, so we shouldn’t.
I know, right? Whatever the level of sexual frustration he has to bring him to this point is nothing compared to the sexual frustration he is going to encounter as a result of this.
The Phelpses have managed to reproduce as far as I can tell. Fucked up men and fucked up women have a way of finding each other. End result: the rest of us have to deal with still more fucked up people.
I dunno. He might not be the kind of guy to take no for answer.
He should be on the list of usual suspects. Whenever a woman is raped by person or persons unknown, the cops should visit him to have him produce an alibi.
Added: Could this be a WBC-like ploy, trying to get someone to kick his ass so that he can the parents?
He’d better be a trust-fund baby, because its hard to imagine anyone outside the WBC being willing to hire him as long as those pictures are the first thing that pop up when you google his name. Certainly no company that has woman in management, or black people, or has customers who are woman or black people. Or white men who don’t actively hate both woman and black people.
That said I kinda wonder about his mental health. According to the Arizona Wildcat paper, he was a fairly generic Christian college student till last year when he took to standing outside the Administration building every day screaming at people about homosexuality, masturbation, etc. Sudden onset of anti-social, religious mania in ones early twenties seems rather text-book.
Yeah. With any luck, he’ll have some family member who’ll see this and who he’ll actually still listen to. That does kind of point at schizophrenia or something similar.
I would like more than anything to believe what you are saying is true. However, when you learn that serial killers like Ted Bundy get hundreds, if not thousands, of letters from women when they are in jail you have to wonder. Maybe this is his ploy to get dates.
As a recent graduate of the U of A, I must shamefully say: meh.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, what he’s saying is abhorrent, it just doesn’t faze me anymore. Pretty much every day of the year we have a different bigoted preacher spewing some bullshit about homosexuality, or rape, or abortion, or atheism, or how colleges are liberal brainwashing institutions preaching on the mall between noon and 3PM or so. Once a year or so for about a month some anti-abortion institution puts up this disgusting stand with large, visible pictures of mulched and mutilated fetuses (okay, I’m sick and they look like tasty fruit snacks to me for some reason, but in principle they’re disgusting).
For a lot of students they’ve become a constant source of entertainment. People flock to these preachers during lunch to watch them and basically mock them and argue with them. This guy, IMO, isn’t really any more newsworthy than any of the other 15-20 preachers and bigots I saw over my four years there. Except for maybe the timing of it with the sexual assault awareness thing, he’s basically just the same message with a different face.
ISTM the nicest thing anyone could do for this douche is present him with a Greyhound Bus ticket to Storey County, NV, and a gift card to the Mustang Ranch.
When he starts telling the ladies at the ranch they’re whores, the sins of the world are their fault, and that they’ll burn for eternity, I don’t think a simple gift card is going to work.
Even prostitutes have their limits.
