Arrest Development: 9/19

I loved the episode (I was howling at George Sr. driving the cabin away on an enormous truck) – even moreso because there was a shot of my hometown in it! The exterior of the “VARSITY” theater the Blue Man Group was performing in is a movie theater in Ashland – it’s where I’m seeing Serenity! There was a gold lion on a red flag in front of it, which is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival banner. It was only onscreen for about two seconds, but ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT WENT TO MY HOMETOWN YAY!

I think I must have missed that one. Can someone repeat or paraphrase?

Okay, it wasn’t just me or my crappy cable connection. Get that woman a hamburger, stat!

I love these threads because everyone notices different things. The “boxy” line flew right over my head and I totally missed the ring tone. I can’t wait for the season 2 DVD. I managed to miss the “loose seal” episode each time it was on.

I believe she’s 17 now so its’ getting less creepy by the day. I have a sweet spot for her because I totally have a cousin that I would make out with if she wasn’t my cousin. And married. The freckles are cute too.

Yeah. I think what I actually said, or thought loudly, during that scene was “I can see the veins on her chest!”

They were talking about Lucille finding a man to take to the cabin, and Lucille says “And who’s going to go in that musty old claptrap?”

Cut to Michael, who says nothing. Back to Lucille. Then back to Michael again. Finally, he says something about the cabin.

Swallows, the “family themed erotic restaurant” or whatever exactly it was, just killed me.

I believe EC was looking for the Seeward joke. If he wasn’t I am.

Oh. The Seaward was a boat that GOB bought with Bluth Company money. Michael, of course, didn’t approve, and they were arguing about it as Lucille entered the office. As GOB left, Michael said “Get rid of the Seaward!”

Lucille said, “I’ll leave when I’m good and ready.”

Man, I can’t remember it exactly, but GOB and Michael were talking about their(?) boat, “The Seaward”, and it went something like “Well, what are we going to do about the Seaward?”, to which Lucille responded something like “Don’t talk about me like I’m not here!” (Seaward=“C-word”)

Damn. Too slow.

Nah, you both helped. Thank you. And thanks for not mocking the huge error in the thread title. :smack:

Personally, I thought the most risque line of the episode was Tobias’ “Oh, great, now I’m going to stink to high heaven like tuna melt”.

Funny stuff.

But Portia DiRossi is officially scary. At one point in the episode she sticks out her chest to show what Tobias is missing and you realize there’s nothing there.

She looked like a scarecrow at the Emmys last night. I was kinda hoping it was just the dress and the unfortunate bad hairdo, but, no.

I love that Steve Holt’s mom was Eve Holt.

EVE HOLT!!!

In the yearbook Eve Holt’s ambition was “To grauate high school some day” and her quote was “My life is ruined.”

Huh, I missed “it is kinda boxy”. Although as long as the beat was after “musty old claptrap,” we still had to pause the TiVo because I couldn’t stop laughing.

“I’ve made a huge little mistake.”

That was the closing line of the Lindsay’s VolvO bit. Lindsay was considering buying the Volvo, but decided against it because “it’s kinda boxy”. I couldn’t tell which photocopy she had in her hand at the time, but I assume it was the one that wasn’t the car.

Poor Portia DiRossi. Nobody loves her but me. If no one is willing to give her a hamburger, I’d be happy to slip her a special tube steak.

I loved all the references to Reno, The Biggest Little City in America. I wonder if the whole big/little thing related to the father/son thing.

I have the show on Tivo and went back to the yearbook one last time. The guy above Eve Holt had his goal listed as ‘to be on tv someday’.

?

Does this have some connection with “rescue dogs” in Hawaii?

I have to admit, the joke in “Eve Holt” may be a bit too subtle for me (and I totally missed “boxy”), but the blue stains on Kitty’s breasts and the back of her head cracked me up.
