Eve Holt. Steve Holt. They rhyme, see?

Unless there’s a deeper joke in there as well. In which case I don’t get it either.

Blue handprint on the back of her head – brill!

I can think of one thing that would have vastly improved the episode – a brief cameo by Thomas Lennon. I’m surprised they didn’t think of it. Or maybe there were legal issues. Or maybe it slipped right by me.

I don’t get the Steve Holt/Eve Holt joke either, but last night’s episode was the first one I’ve ever seen. I loved the show; it’s absolutely DENSE with jokes, isn’t it? We’ll probably own the first season by the end of the week.

I don’t think there’s anything deeper to the Eve/Steve joke than the notion that at one point there was a teenage girl running around exclaiming “EVE HOLT!” like her son does so well.

Those of you who are new to the show, there is a lot of information here if you want to read up:

Can’t wait for next week!

Ever since the first season, Steve Holt, a likeable enough (but dumb) guy Maebe has had a crush on, yells his name “Steve Holt!” as an affirmation like “Yea yea!” whenever anything good happens, and then it became his introduction, then just a catch-phrase. Eve Holt is his mother, the names rhyme, and it’s just kinda funny if yelling her name was her catch-phrase too.

Indeed. Forgive me anyone who read the “reminder” thread and finds me repeating myself, but:

Hey, quoting yourself is fun.
Not as fun as your cousin rubbing off on you, but. Y’know.

Not as much fun as starting a new thread quoting yourself from a previous thread.

That is your way of saying that you came up with a thought so brilliant that it warranted its own thread for full discussion.

Indeed, it must be why VCRs/DVDs were invented. The episodes must not be watched, they must be studied. The jokes are a riddle wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a banana peel.

Er. . . wha? Did I do this?

When he introduced himself to GOB, he did the “STEVE HOLT!” thing, which includes raising his hands above his head. STEVE HOLT! is also in his seventh year of high school – there was a yearbook bit last season showing his various pictures from his three senior years, the quotes ranging from “I’m out of here!” to “See ya, suckers!” to “Study hard guys – trust me.”

One other funny bit – according to the letter, S.A.D.'s headquarters are at the corner of Hyde and No. Hope.

No, you did not. But I recommend you try it some time!

and what about Buster…puts a tape of himself snoring in his bed.

“I slept in the car so I wouldn’t disturb you, and then put the tape of me snoring so you wouldn’t know I was gone.” or something like that.

The volv-o & claptrap were hilarious. I didn’t catch the Seaward, but thanks for pointing it out. Was that Michael Savage(radio guy) as the investment guy who upgraded Bluth Ind to “don’t buy!”??? I thought I saw that in the credits, but they were really small, and I have a 13-inch tv.
Those writers are geniuses.

best epi ever.

and I can’t wait for xmas, my mom already bought me the Season 1 dvd for my present!

Ratings are in. BAD NEWS!

It got beat by WB’s Seventh Heaven!

To be clear, that’s from an earlier episode. (First season, I think.)

I assume it was Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s “Mad Money” show, “spoofing” himself. Although it really isn’t much of a spoof, because that’s exactly what his real show is like, with the yelling and pacing around. (If it wasn’t actually Cramer playing himself, it was still a near-perfect replica of his show.)

I’m pretty sure it was him.

If it wasn’t they didn’t bother changing his name or the show’s name for the segment.

The Fonz, making out… with a guy?!
Well, I guess I’m all grown up, now.

I wouldn’t panic until next week. Last night it was on opposite football. My husband won’t change the channel for God hisownself when football is on, and I don’t think he’s alone.

Damn. Hopefully Carmen Electra will strip in anguish.

That’ll be fifty bucks.

Maybe that will finally be the excuse for Justine Bateman to come on the show and kiss her brother?
