And of course he burned his fingerprints off in a CornBaller ™ accident earlier in the episode, making it even harder to prove his identity. I love the CornBaller.
I’m thinking th ecreators of the show felt this might be the last episode, look how many old show references came up throughout. Even cameos of Buster’s hand chair in the background, George’s flash back to his prison days, references to the ship being blown up, the end of the Bluman grouops disist order, the Charlie brown depression music, The cousin movie and of course the cornballerTM.
There are probably a hundred others but I missed Paul Winfield, Lucille 2 and at least a passing reference to white power Bill.
My favorite line was by the guy explaining the water damage below. “And for some reason a hell of a lot of blue paint”
Another season ending with a great escape by George. Oh please let there be a next season!!
Oh yeah, on George Michael’s copy of the cousin movie (I think), the cover had a quote by reviewer Tim Goodman of the SF Chronicle… just like the DVD box of season one of Arrested Development.
Well, to be fair, Edgar Bergen had a successful radio show with his various dummies, Charlie McCarthy being the best-known of them.
As byomtoob pointed out, elimination (“not Bull, not Harry, and he’s white”) leaves only John Larroquette, reinforced by Kitty’s later reference to him. I’m not sure if JL is himself a recovering alcoholic, but he played one in his short-lived but reasonably funny eponymous post-Night Court sitcom.
I remember Larroquette discussing his rampant alcoholism on Carson or Letterman or something awhile ago. He was telling him about the mass amounts of Tequila he was consuming on some trip he was on and it occurred to him he might have a problem.
I don’t have a cite, just a vague memory.
I just rewatched it. Best Tobias line of the night, upon seeing Kitty in Michael’s office: “Oh, I see you wasted no time in filling my seat hole.”
And don’t forget when Lucille was telling off Oscar, and warned him, “Take a good look, this is the last time you’ll see THESE!” then the picture cut to a test pattern.
“Filling my seat hole” is the WEIRDEST Tobias line ever. There isn’t even such a thing as a seat hole.
Somebody said (in a different thread?) that there were going to be a lot of season one references. I guess the return of the Cornballer is a big one. The damn blue man group that I’m sick of is one? Plus
-Gob and Michael wrestling
-Gob singing 80s hits and making recordings of them
-George Michael and Maeby haven’t made out since the first show
