ARRRGHH! The Discovery Channel is freaking me out!

There talking about vampire bugs that drink your blood. Bed Bugs (there ARE such things!) and Lice and this Chaggus (sp?) bug that is an inch long and drinks blood from around your lips and leaves a stream of waste near your mouth that can make you sick and die! There is also a blood sucking BIRD! I’ve never heard of that.
All I have to say is EWW!! ICK and CREEPY!

I’m itching all over.

…Ok… I just learned that the bird is a Finch in the Galopagos islands (that figures… what DIDNT the finches there evolve to?) It plucks the veins out of larger birds legs and drinks the dripping blood. How wild, I never heard of that.

Have they shown the vampire parrot from New Zealand yet? The mites that live on your eye-lases are the coolest though, even if they don’t suck blood.

Am I correct in gathering from the article that these parrots EAT SHEEP?

Whammo, we watched that last night too. Is that the most freakin’ gross thing you’ve ever seen (the Kissing Bug).

My new job is in the Department of Entomology at MSU (Michigan State) and we’ve got this very cool “Bug House” that is basically a little bug zoo except they’ve got these freaky, nasty bugs, like a millipede that’s about 10 inches long and as big around as my middle finger; spiders (okay, technically not insects), humming cockroaches, etc. Leaves you with a twitch after you go through it!
