article on male body part

doing an internet search i found an article about how to make one’s private organ bigger. why do you publish this kind of smut on the internet? children can go to your site. i could see some young person finding that article and reading it.

this is the reason why congress is going to pass laws to make sure pornography does not get on the internet.

Welcome to the SDMB, and thank you for posting your comment.
Please include a link to Cecil’s column if it’s on the straight dope web site.
To include a link, it can be as simple as including the web page location in your post (make sure there is a space before and after the text of the URL).

Cecil’s columns can be found on-line at this link:
Do penis enlargement devices actually work?
Is it possible to straighten and lengthen the penis? (20-Oct-2000)

The first (older) column (including Slug Signorino’s illustration) can also be found on pages 56-58 of Cecil Adams’ book «The Straight Dope».

Righteous, I’m going to have to disagree with your point of view here. I think that an article discussing possible surgical procedures on the penis is not quite the same as pornography. The article may even prove useful to educate people about a possible medical problem (see october 2000 article in re Peyronie’s disease).

Looking at the big picture, it may seem sometimes that the internet is just a vast repository of porn. But there are many useful sites in this connected world of ours and in my many years of travelling I very rarely encounter a porn site. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater! One of the things that makes the internet so exciting is the wide variety of information one can find.

As far as children are concerned, it is true that I have seen sites that I would not like to have any children of mine (supposing I had any) to visit. But that’s what parental guidance is for, and the problem can occur on a visit to your local library, bookstore or video store as well.

mr. moderator what makes your opinion so special? a majority of the citizens of this country are against sex and other sins being disseminated to a broad segment of the population and the innocent children. just because you have no moral foundation doesnt mean that you have the right to inflict your filth upon me and my fellow religious americans.

that article and others like it should be taken off your website. ive looked at some of the other articles and this adams character would be better off with some decency. if you had any kids you would feel the same way to. call me back in twenty years and you’ll be signing a different tune, but by then it might be too late for you.

You’re right, Righteous, it’s absolutely shameful how much sex has pervaded our way of life. Why, do you realize that your parents probably had sex? And recent surveys show that nearly half the population of our once-proud nation actually has the organ discussed in the column by Mr. Adams. What is to become of us?
You make another excellent point about the morally decrepit Mr. Adams inflicting his filth on decent, honest citizens. Why, I personally spoke up when they started going door-to-door handing out printouts of the webpage, and tying people down in front of their computer screens with their eyelids propped open was unquestionably over the top.

I think that this thread is not really commenting on a Straight Dope column any more, but rather on a larger issue. A discussion such as this does not really belong in this forum.
