I think I sucked it in somehow and it stung. Maybe it wasn’t maybe it was non-ash part of the joint but in any case it didn’t feel good.

ETA: Never had it happen with a joint, but it’s not uncommon if you suck on a pipe too hard. If it stung that much, it could have been a small ember, also not really a big deal.
