Anyone remember/play Asheron’s Call 1 or 2?
I played both pretty heavy back in the (pre-WoW) days. They shut down AC2 quite a few years ago but AC1 is still up and running. Well now a few dozen people are probably blowing nerd gaskets because they are bringing AC2 back online!

Kind of amazing that they are doing this, although I am dubious about its prospects in a Warcraft dominated MMO World.
Wow. Surprised anyone even remembers this game. I never played AC2, but I was an AC1 junky in highschool. In fact, I made a relatively large amount of money farming players and selling them on eBay. I never played on any of the “carebear” servers, only Darktide, thus my players sold for quite a bit more. That game was amazing during the day. The wars between Blood and Gen were absolutely epic and would last for days. That game was so addicting, especially the ruthless player vs player mode that would allow you to loot really valuable in game items off of corpses. I was never an RPG player, only a FPS shooter gamer, but I loved AC. I never even bothered to try and get into Warcraft b/cuz of the weak PvP and the fact that there were safe zones; I loved the bloodiness of AC. It was so hard for someone to start out and make it on DarkTide. I actually looted a bow off a guy I PKed for $800 on eBay. What a game.
I think the activity in this thread… or lack thereof speaks volumes for the potential success of this relaunch. Ah well, I have a soft spot for the little guy.
I loved the original Asheron’s Call, better than Everquest, better than WoW. But as I’m neither an obsessive nor overly social gamer, I end up plateauing in the middle levels and wanting to do something else. Most MMOs punish single play, so despite enjoying the game it gets frustrating for me.
