I never heard that. All I heard was that his head had gotten a little too big and he dumped the woman who bore him three kids and stuck with him through cancer. I think he started dating Sheryl Crow very soon afterwards.

I do know that he and Sheryl Crow broke up right before she was diagnosed with cancer, and she has said that he was very supportive despite the circumstances.

Does anyone else call bogus on this formula-pulled-from-someone’s-tuchus criterion? IMO if party A is over drinking age and party B is below Social Security elegibility, there is no creeping perceived. Then again maybe I just have a very high (or very case-narrow) “ew” threshold.

I once watched a kind of documentary about Lance Armstrong. I was a big fan of his, but after the documentary, which followed him about on his daily routine of training and interacting with friends and Sheryl Crow, I didn’t like him as much. He came across as rather a dick, and reminded me of some of the humorless, touchy, combative litigation attorneys I’ve worked for. It doesn’t mean he isn’t a kickass cyclist, but I don’t think I’d choose him as a (boy)friend.

In years of following prof cycling, I’ve heard any number of cyclists saying that LA commanded great respect. I can’t think of anyone saying they found him likeable. That isn’t intended as a criticism at all.

I’m not defending the guy, but he did go through a rough spot. And he did kick-ass on his bike. I have no problem with having a consenting adult girlfriend. She’s not the little girl you all remember from some tv show (which I’ve never seen)
I don’t even know the guy, but I did read his book. Maybe I’ll play him on tv? Maybe I’ll date her sister?
Think she’d go for a 62 year old fat guy!
