Ashton & Demi "I Pledge" video--Creepy

Is this even for real? That’s some serious Kool-Aid drinking, right there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51kAw4OTlA0 WARNING: Not Safe for Anybody

“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama”?

“I pledge to be a servant of our President”?
This is a joke, right? They just left off the winky smilie?
A whoosh, perhaps?
Please?

Yeah, I hate when people try to be better people and citizens, in big and small ways. That really sucks. What assholes.

And I hate when “citizens” think they are subservient to the government.

I Pledge to be a servant of the President? Get up OFF me. The President (whomever it is) works for us.

‘And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you; but what together we can do for the freedom of Man.’

Were people pledging to be servants of President Kennedy?

You probably could have found two or three people who did. YouTube sucked back then, though.

So you ignored 4:10 seconds of the video and latched onto two four-second clips where you could say ‘Gotcha!’? Lame. More than that, it points to the ignorance shown by people like you that is dragging this country into the ground. Why don’t you try being a patriot instead of a self-serving parasite?

Oh, and you conveniently left off the other half of the second quote, which was and to all mankind.

No, what’s lame is spouting such platitudes as:

I will smile, more, laugh more
I will be a great mother/father
I pledge not give people the finger
To meet my neightbors, to give them a smile
To turn off the lights
To never stop learning and growing, each day.

Maybe we do need a SQUEE! smilie, but I just threw up in my mouth.

What utter nonsense.

Its a cookbook! A cookbook!

Carol would rather see people pledge to fly a 747 into the white house. That’s what real merkins want nowadays.

Soon people will be pledging allegiance to the flag, of the United States ofAmerica, and to the republic for which it stands.

Then shit’s really gonna be crazy.

Why “citizens” ? Were Demi and Ashton born in Kenya or something?

May I ask what’s so pitworthy about people pledging to help their fellow countrymen, even if it is with small things such as turning off lights to save energy or not giving each other the finger?

I, for one, feel every little bit helps and can’t imagine getting worked up by people trying to make things better for everyone.

You have to ask what’s wrong with people pledging subservience to the President?

And even (Sen) Al Fraken made fun of shit like this:

“I Pledge To never stop learning and growing, each day.”

I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like me!

You’re right, it’s better just to call detractors un-American traitors instead.

You mean like the Obamacare crowd do?

Yeah, this kind of thing never happened when Bush was in office.

She did work for the President, but she wasn’t his servant. What are Ashton and Demi carrying on about?

I Pledge to laugh more, smile more

What kind of hippy-dippy crap is that?

Your complete lack of self-awareness is just so charming.

Maybe I’m naive but I don’t think they were pledging to be Mr. Obama’s personal servants but rather to serve him in his role as President, and thus by extension serve the country and it’s citizens. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

I’m also not really sure what’s wrong with people pledging to better themselves. Maybe it does sound a little cliché but I’m not sure I’d say it’s silly.
