Nice. Haven’t heard it quite framed this way, but it’s hard to dispute and really illogical to say there’s truly inequality when you put it that way.
The serious answer is probably for the same or similar reasons that companies didn’t employ black people at drastically lower wages in the past – a combination of bigotry, inertia, as well as the fact that some companies actually did do this and benefit.
Thanks for that.
Of course everything is more complicated than a sentence…but I do think that does highlight a flaw in the “we get paid shit but are just as good as” arguement.
That’s right. Always comes back to sexism, bigotry, etc. Couldn’t possibly be that the majority of people qualified to hold those positions are men.
Working so far for me…
+1
Ooooh! Burn!
Do you think Democrat presidents will take away your guns?
Regarding this, do you think that sick or dying people who do not have money or insurance should be turned away from hospitals? If you answered no, who should pay for their care? Why is it it a bad idea to force them to pay for their own care?
One thing that has always confused me about conservatives and Obamacare is that I thought they would like that the freeloaders who are sucking at the public teat for their healthcare were actually forced to take responsibility for themselves.
Well, I think they might try…
And for the record…I am VERY pro gun…but wait…because your libtard head willl explode…I don’t actually own a gun…never have…a may well never in the future…
I’m sure that has something to do with it, just as the fact that there were few black engineers hired in the 40s was at least partially related to there being fewer qualified black engineers in the 40s.
But why were there fewer qualified black engineers in the 40s? Why are there fewer qualified women in various fields today? At least part of these sorts of statistics are best explained by bigotry and bias, both individual and systemic. And even if we look at qualified women, or qualified black engineers in the 40s, the statistics I’ve seen show that they are paid less than their qualified male/white counterparts to varying degrees.
Bigotry isn’t the entire explanation for these sorts of phenomena, but it’s part of it, IMO.
Uh no, my libtard head is still intact, and my guns remain untaken.
So where’s Hillary’s child sex slave pen?
Indeed, for the most generous definitions of, “Working”.
Well, you got me there…
I think it is at some Domino’s pizza parlor…
So, why hasn’t some capitaiist pig take advange of this.
I’ll put greed over racism anyday.
Some have. But racism can be pretty powerful. Dozens or even hundreds of towns put racism over greed in the days of sundown towns – they’d turn away black customers and patrons to the point that they couldn’t even stop in the town safely to get gas or a hotel room. This is (mostly) gone, but it shows that the free market can’t always solve these problems by itself.
NFL lately?
What, you can’t answer my question?
Benghazi.
There are a few questions Bill is choosing to ignore. Mine was in post #54.
In that post I stipulated, honestly, that he considered himself a thoughtful and principled conservative. After reading his nonsensical responses in this thread, some of which I suspect he thinks were funny but were actually thoughtless and boorish, I no longer make those assumptions.
I’ve heard a lot about how Trump supporters want us to understand them. They’re not all racists, they have real concerns if we’d only just ask and listen. Well, this thread is a great example of people trying to honestly engage and listen, only to find they were conversing with a truly moronic twit. It’s a shame, really.
