Ask the (Not So) Amateur Porn Director

When you appear as talent, how much do you let yourself simply enjoy the physical act? I mean, on the one hand, you’re doing a job and creating a product for sale. On the other hand, well, you’re boffing a hot chick, for cripe’s sake! How do you reconcile these two sides?

For me the single most important thinig is to make sure she is enjoying it, If I can get her to forget the camera is there the scene will be hotter always and sometimes it allows me to forget the camera is there for a moment or two. But because I shoot amateurs I have to make sure I keep the shot open and the action going and all that so it certainly isn’t like girlfriend sex but it can still be very hot and very enjoyable.

How difficult is it for a guy to get in the industry? What are the steps?

So when a girl comes to you because she wants to be in one of your films and you haven’t hired her before, do you put her through an audition, making her perform for you privately so you’ll know what she can and can’t, or will and won’t, do? Basically, do you sample the merchandise first, or do you not see her perform until you’re on set and rolling?

I dont do auditions or anything like that, I play very fair at most I will ask her to take her clothes off so I can see any tats, or anything else I may need to shoot around but thats it. I do have a screening process that they must pass but its me trying to determine if she is doing it for what I consider to be good reasons and wont later regret it. It doesn’t involve sex at all.

Why on God’s Green Earth do you/they have to cut to the guy making fuck faces? I want to see that less than never!

Well I don’t and never would…I HATE that the less you see of the guys face…even mine the better

**Do you know of any sexual harassment lawsuits in the industry? I’m just curious as to how an industry that is all about sex can even define, let alone deal with, sexual harassment.
**

It has been said that in this industry we dont report sexual harassment we grade it and as humorous as that sounds its pretty accurate, Its a unique environment but for the most part the conversations arent even about sex or innuendo, I mean we do that as part of the job. At least on my sets nobody makes unwanted advances or does anything to make the girl uncomfy but it is acceptable to flirt and compliment and joke around in a light hearted and fun way.

Can you expand on this? What exactly is so terrible about viagra that warrants being banned?

Did you see Boogie Nights? If you did, what did you think of its depiction of the industry?
Yes and I found it very accurate. It is one of the few hollywood portrayals of our industry that was pretty accurate and non judgmental to this day I use the line “Life has shadows”

I met John Leslie (one of my favorite actors) in Vegas at one of the old CES “Video Software” booths in the 80’s. I told him that I envied him, being able to bone all of those hot women (before I realized Traci Lords was a teenager, forcing me to burn TDTM3). He looked at me, and said that I shouldn’t envy him. I didn’t understand his comment until I saw a expose (pun not intended) on the adult film industry, pre-viagra days.

I mention this and his name because I thought he could (or should) have made the transition to mainstream film (I liked his character in Dixie Ray, Hollywood Star). Are any of the people you shoot qualified to take on Hollywood, and if so, do you dissuade them from doing porn?

**Have you ever, during a private moment of intimacy, yelled, “CUT!”?
**
LOL No…

These days its nearly impossible. There is one tried and true method though

Get a pretty girl who wants to be in porn, she should insist that she work with you the first time, they will give you a shot to get her, if you are successful and a good performer you will get plenty of work, if not theres always yer day job

By the way, will this thread become sticky?

Just had to ask…sorry…

for starters if you dont have a scrip for it it puts me in jeopardy if the set gets visited by uncle Leo (thats law enforcement). But if you are a 20-30 year old guy and you can’t get it up for Kayden Kross without drugs you are in the wrong biz. It has also enabled guys to crossover from gay porn into mainstream which has brought a whole new set of problems to the biz. I am now 54 and I can do 2 scenes a day without Viagra or Cialis or Caverject, though I don’t perform as much anymore I still believe that needing Viagra to do porn is Gods way of saying porn isnt for you.

Well, feel free to use my idea.:stuck_out_tongue:

John and I always got along very well, I have tremendous respect for him and his passing was a sad day for me.

You are right, he was a good actor and technically Dixie Ray Hollywood Star was the first porn movie made into a mainstream theatrical release without the sex.

Most of the people I shoot could never make it in hollywood nor do they even want to. I did shoot a girl two weeks ago who went three rounds on American Idol but she was doing it for fun and has no ambition to be an actress or even a professional singer. If I thought someone had those ambitions even if they didnt have the talent I would dissuade them from porn. While adult isn’t the black mark it once was in most circles it still has a negative stigma usually and it does follow you.

LOL I KNEW someone was gonna say that!

You said how don’t allow it, but how could you tell if someone is using it?

For those of you who want to try finding the film without the scenes, the title (at least in the 90s) was called, “It’s [Called] Murder, Baby”.

I rented it from Blockbuster one night, not realizing I had seen it in its unedited form years earlier.

What’s your stance on the use of condoms in films? I personally can’t stand them: although I understand it’s to protect the actors, at the same time they’re trying to sell a vicarious fantasy, and being visually reminded of the vagaries of STDs and birth control personally kills all the eroticism for me.

Thanks for starting this thread. It’s fascinating.

I’m an information security guy by profession, so I had a couple of questions related to that…

How “security aware” would you say the industry is? Do people running adult sites spend a lot of time and effort trying to protect their sites? Do you discuss the problems of information security at industry events? I am thinking of a couple of threats specifically. Criminals will often try to get malware-delivering ads placed on legitimate sites (adult or otherwise, although adult sites are notorious for it). Is this something you deal with routinely or worry about much?

Also, I often see lists of compromised credentials for adult sites posted online. Do you see a lot of attempts to compromise your user database? Do you spend a lot of time dealing with compromised user accounts?

Do you deal with a lot of requests from law enforcement or attorneys asking for information on member activity?

Thanks!

You obviously haven’t taken it, then.

Erections in real life don’t last as long as they do on film. YOU try keeping it up with a director and cameras and God knows who else in a room. Then try it again for the money shot. Then try it again because you (or the director) need to reshoot (damn, it’s hard to keep puns out of an adult conversation)…

Sorry to jump in Mike And no, I have not been in any films.
