Ask the Stripper!

I’ve already answered all of those questions, you will have to read through the thread to find them if you really want to know.

Not that I know of, or, at least not in the clubs I have worked at.

Yeah, that one used to be but not so much anymore. It seems like I hear the same songs over and over again, but I am usually too busy to really pay attention. Obviously I dance to it, but the music is secondary to everything else going on in the club for me.

I have no idea what a “B-girl” is. When I worked in Texas I know the dancers were allowed to/encouraged to drink with customers, but as I said, at the main club I danced at in Tucson, if you so much as had a drink of water at a table with a customer (or got caught drinking alcohol on your own) you’d be fired in a heartbeat.

A woman hired by a bar to sit around, look sexy, and attempt to get the (male) customers to part with their money. You’ve probably seen them in old movies or TV shows. Think of the floozy who parks herself at the table of a lonely-looking guy, takes a drag of her cigarette, and asks in her smoky voice: “Wanna buy me a drink, honey?” Her drinks either cost more than the guy’s otherwise identical ones would, or were water/ginger ale/juice for the price of a shot or beer. The “two fun girls from Mount Pilot” on a few classic episodes of the Andy Griffith Show weren’t specifically B-girls in the script, but they looked and acted the part.

I always thought those women were referred to as “whores,” lol. Or in the strip club world they used to be referred to as “lot lizards,” but now I’m pretty sure that is a truck stop term, for example:

As you are (from what I can tell from this thread) a stripper with a young daughter, I wonder: how do you feel about the character of Catherine Willows on CSI? Does that portrayal of someone who’s been in your life situation at a past point in her life strike you as realistic? At all helpful for humanizing your profession?

Kids like to emulate their parents. One day many years from now, you discover that your 33 year old daughter is stripping, and has been (on and off again) for 13 years. She enjoys the work, and she is still a babe, so she plans to continue. Would you support her in that decision, even though today, you do not want her entering that life?

On a lighter note:

What is your natural hair color, and do you dye your hair to a color that benefits you in the club? Personally, I think you looked stunning as a redhead in one of your pictures, although I am partial to red heads.

I’ve never seen it so I don’t know the answer to that. Perhaps Opal can address that one.

I’ve never watched CSI, sorry!

I’ve explained that my daughter has no idea what I do for a living. You will just have to take my word for it that she never will. Without going into personal details that I am not comfortable discussing, I will say that it is something she cannot and will not be able to comprehend.

But, if that did happen (in some hypothetical world), I don’t think I’d get upset about it. If she was, indeed, like me, then I would know that she was a very well-functioning and intelligent woman. If that is what she wanted to do I would probably understand it better than anyone. It would be none of my business what my 33-year-old daughter decides to do with her life.

I do my hair how I like it and I wear extensions and wigs at the club. My own hair is not nearly stripperish enough for my tastes, plus I like to look different to get into character. My hair is no longer that red. I do it a more realistic shade of auburn and I clip in auburn and blonde pieces to make it longer and fuller, or I wear a curly half-wig that I clip blonde pieces into to keep consistent.

We totally keep the same hours, lol. It seems like we are both always posting at the same times.

Oh! That explains the full hair. I thought extensions and wigs would come off with all the swaying and energetic movements a dancer makes. How do you keep them securely on your head?
Besides the usual beauty tricks and stage-make-up tricks, are there any specific stripper beauty-secrets your union will let you share here?

i have not yet had time to read this full thread, or even any responses since i posted to it like two days ago… but i know that my last post was overly assholish… possibly even tempting the bounds of the major board rule, i.e “don’t be a jerk.”

for that much, i apologize. i really was being a jerk, at least in the tone of my reply. as to the remainder of my previous post, well, i’ll read up starting now, and then… we’ll see.

i accept that as fair. it doesn’t work near to that where i am, but hey. to each their own. and i really am sorry for the tone in which i raised this. it was not appropriate, and came largely from a recent personal experience of the most infuriating kind.

but, i will still submit, in general, a tipout to barbacks, busboys, doorstaff, et al. should be well within the house regs, and if you have a problem with the house regs, you take it up the house, and not out on your backs or boys.

if there is anything that can run a club into the ground faster than a crew of pissed-off barbacks, i’d like to know.
i’ve seen a bunch of them come & go & come again… the door gives you something, the entertainment something else… but if you want a real club of any size, no matter the entertainment… you need a backstaff that trusts & respects you. or is too fucking inbred & retarded to know the difference. and up here, inbred don’t go far.

in fact, the top backs in this town make as much, sometimes more, than most tenders. really, find a club where tenders run shit, guaranteed you have multiple health-code violations just waiting to be caught.

find one of the handfull of clubs where the backs run the show - your night out will never be as tame again.

As I said before, I don’t care how you feel about my tipping practices. You came and insulted me, shit on my thread, and now you want to apologize? Just get out of here, and if you want to start up with me again, take it to the Pit and I’ll gladly join you to tell you exactly what I think of you and your opinions.

I’ve read this whole thread, in fact I’ve been fascinated by it. I always enjoy reading your posts, good on ya for doing what you do, and for knowing your way around.

You mention famous people you’ve met - any Dopers you know that have seen you?

Not everyone wears them, some girls really do have full hair.

I use clip in extensions that stay in perfectly. I move a lot, but I don’t swing my head around like crazy or go upside down or anything like that. I’ve never had one fall out. And some wigs are designed with a comb attached in the front and back of it so you can secure it into your hair. Like I said, I use a half-wig, and my own bangs are out in the front. It looks pretty natural in the club, but in normal daylight it would definitely look like a wig. The extensions look so natural that even my friends and family don’t know when I’m wearing them.

As for beauty secrets, I have a lot of them, I will try to come up with a list later.

I’ll look forward to that.

I noticed that you are wearing what looks like a wedding ring in your pictures - do you wear your wedding ring(s) at work? If so, do you ever get asked about them?

No, I do not wear my wedding ring at work. Nor do I ever admit to being married, or even having a boyfriend. Telling that kind of info will never help you make money. Some girls wear 'em, but I think they are working against themselves on that one.
