Ask the tall skinny lesbian goth chick college student with the funny nose!

All right, “Ask the Gay Guy” was great. “Ask the Closeted Bisexual Guy” was fine. And “Ask the Aging Rock Star”, if aha hadn’t started it, probably would have just been started by someone else who was curious about getting the facts of stardom straight from the horse’s mouth. But this is getting out of hand! Everywhere you go, it’s Ask the This! Ask the That! Andy Warhol said that in the future, everyone would have their fifteen minutes of fame, but it seems he’s been proven wrong. It seems that everybody will have his own “Ask the” thread. Come on, people! Does everybody really have to go and solicit questions on what it’s like to be them? After all, this is the SDMB we’re talking about! I’m sure you’ll have ample opportunity to discuss your own particular world views without needing to resort to actively seeking out the questions you want to be asked!

I guess “Ask the Fat Chick” is out of the question?

NTG I have seen your pic and I don’t think you have a funny nose.

Try and be patient and this too shall pass.

So “Ask the Short Lesbian Engineer About Coal Power Plants and In-Flight Lesbian Encounters” is out too? Damn, damn, damn!

Do you have a Goth name?

Right on, NTG!!

I was going to spank Esprix for unleashing this monster, but then I re-read ATGG and grew concerned that such a “punishment” might encourage him.

I started to write a long exposition, but screw it. No need for a long “me too” post. But, since we’re in the Pit, fuck you!!

V.

Oh, I misread that. I thought you said runny nose … nevermind.

I agree they are stupid. At least put them in MPSIMS, where they belong.

MPSIMS gets enough turnover as it is. I think they belong in IMHO.

As long as I’m here, might as well honor the thread title: NTG, will you send me an e-birthday card on Monday?

So NTG, how tall are you?

So how much do you weigh?

(Yeah, I know, I’m supposed to ask girls that, but hey, you said I could.)

Are you actually reading any of these threads? Many of them have sparked intelligent discussion and given people an opportunity to learn the answers to questions they’ve had for ages. If that isn’t what this MB is all above, what is?

Besides you can hardly say the subject lines don’t warn you what’s in the thread.

For fuck’s sake people, if you don’t like a thread, don’t read it. If you want to dictate that certain perfectly appropriate threads should not be posted, start your own frigging MB.

In that last post of mine, I meant to say “I’m not supposed to ask…”

Hear hear, ruadh. Compared to the innumerable threads about felching or the monthly gun control/abortion threads (well-researched though they may be), I don’t see any harm in giving people the opportunity to ask questions of people well-equipped to answer them.

I see your point, NTG, but I have to admit, I haven’t been paying a lot of attention to the “Ask the…” threads.

(Say - that might make an interesting topic - Ask the Person Who Hasn’t Been Paying Attention. Hmmmmmmm).

Hey Neuro! Look over there! ------->

(runs off to start a new thread)

I have a question for the tall skinny lesbian goth chick college student with the funny nose. NTG, will you e-mail me? I want to tell you something. I respect your desire to keep your tall skinny lesbian goth chick college student ass to yourself, but I wanted to talk to you for a sec off the boards. Just set up a freemail account with yahoo or hotmail, and send it to me. I look forward to talking to you. Believe me when I say I have nothing but respect for you, I promise it’s all good.

Cheers!
Dave

I don’t think NTG’s going to answer. Maybe that was her point.

Anth,

I got the point, but I hoped she would read and maybe respond. I have nothing but respect for NTG, and hope to talk to her.

Cheers!

Dave

I’ll talk to you, dave! Anytime, sweetheart. Anytime.

Hell, any questions I had have been answered on the Tall Skinny Lesbian Goth Chick College Students With Funny Noses Message Board (or as we call it TSLGCCSWFNMB).

Or I just visit wellesley.edu.

I think the basic concept is good, that someone will field questions as a self-declared representative of their subculture. I mean, suppose there was something I’ve always been burning to ask a Gun-Toting Marxist-Leninist Jesuit (or what have you)?

But the gimmick is wearing a bit thin. Making fun of the gimmick is a bit old already, too. There comes a stage in the life of every idea when it is best known by its parodies and imitations than for itself. In the end, all that’s left is to push the button and get it over with.

Wait, that’s not quite what I meant. I meant that actually, if you look at T.S. Eliot and consider the degeneration he fretted about way earlier in the 20th century, and the unstoppable inhuman march up to progress and down from spirituality, and do the math with your toes, it’s clear that it was time to push the button on March 2nd, 1982. The fact that merciful release has not come is proof that there is a God, and not a sweetheart of a one.

What was I going on about? The rise of the technocrat? The insoluability and inevitable need for agitation of itallian dressing?

My point is, by God, or hopefully not by God, if there is one who’s let us get by this long without pushing the button, you’ve got a point, but I wouldn’t take it to Vegas.
