asshat who stole my bike

<Dieter voice>
Now ist de time on Sprockets venn vee remove die testikals mit de chain…do you vant to touch my monkey?
</Dv>

I had one taken.

Right off the rack, & it was chained & locked.

Get a frikkin U lock.

Chains don’t cut it anymore.
BTW–most pawnshops won’t touch stolen stuff–they treat it like it was radioactive.

Often, they get sold for scrap aluminum/magnesium.

Check the “hippy” bike stores. Run-down shit shops.
Find em via Google Street.

Thing is, random passers by just don’t give a crap- a friend of mine lost the keys to his bike lock on a night out, and wound up sawing through the chain with a hacksaw the next morning. It took him about an hour, on one of the busiest streets in the city, looking, (assuming he was dressed in his usual hippy don’t give a crap about clothing manner), borderline homeless.

In that hour, not one single person so much as asked what he was doing.

Yeah, when I was 13 I had my bike stolen from in front of a movie theater. It was locked not only to the bike rack, but also to my sister’s bike. Turns out some guy drove up with a truck, cut through both my bike lock AND my sister’s, then threw my bike in the back of his truck and left.

Not my sister’s bike, mind you, just mine.

And how do I know this? Cause the ticket seller at the theater SAW THE WHOLE GOD DAMNED THING! So allow me to take this moment to say a gigantic FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCKER to the guy who stole my Diamondback bike which I absolutely loved and still miss to this day, and also to the bastard at the movie theater who never even bothered to call the cops… or tell me about it when my sister and I left the movie and found out what happened… but rather waited until my mom drove over to the theater and asked if they had any idea what happened. :mad:

Well, that sucks. I hate thieves, too (and vandals - bunch of juvenile delinquent assholes, ruining everything for everybody).

Uh, sorry, got a bit carried away with my cane-shaking there. :slight_smile:

Could it be that the guy needed the bike more than you did? So he redistributed the wealth a little. Does his needing it more (possibly) count?

Jesus fuck, you’re an asshole.

Why thank you, now you will be able to understand how I feel about those who say that I should happily pay higher taxes for those “less fortunate” because I “can afford it”.

It is hilarious how quickly liberals start snarling when the redistribution of wealth affects them and not the abstract “rich”… Just witness from the OP: “I am 100% against the death penalty, but if I find out who did this … I could be convinced otherwise.”.

Theft is not a redistribution of wealth. Neither is taxation theft, you pay to live in this society.
Your representatives voted for the current tax code, deal with it.

How is it not? Stipulate, for the sake of argument, that the thief is more needy than you. He gets some of your “wealth”. You lose some of your “wealth”. Thus the redistribution. And you can afford it more than him (see the stipulation) - so it’s “fair”.

Because it has been decided that no person can take property that belongs to another without government backing. And taxes go to pay much more than the “deadbeats” you’re so pissed off with.

Just because “it has been decided” doesn’t make it less of a redistribution of wealth.

Since you seem to resent paying taxes as you don’t like how their spent, you must want to be part of the 47% who pay no taxes and freeload on the system, right?
By the way, even though my wife and I pay no taxes(SSDI), we do pay almost $600 a month for Medicare and supplemental insurance. Not exactly a free ride.

Irrelevant to the topic at hand. Which is the bicycle thief’s self-directed initiative to redistribute wealth in a fair manner.

So you approve of a society where theft is allowed?

The topic at hand WAS bicycle theft before you took a fucking Tea Party-sized threadshit.

Did I say that?

Sure did. You described theft as a fair redistribution of wealth.

I’m pretty sure Terr was being rather sarcastic.

You are the stupidest person on the internet.
