In this thread, I revealed that I had been invited to appear in a reality show. It’s difficult to believe that it’s been (nearly) three months since the first boot camp session.
Anyway, for the benefit of Otto and twickster, I am now ready to give some information on the air date. The show is called The Singing Office. On August 10 at 10:00 p.m. EDT, and repeated at 1:00 a.m. on August 11, the show I participated in will be airing. Here’s the description of the show on the TLC website. If you have the time to tune in (or the inclination to record it to your DVR), please consider it.
Some tantalizing tidbits of trivial information:
Musically, and thematically, the episode bears an eerie resemblance to a specific episode of The Simpsons. The discerning viewer will be able to identify the episode, and the points of similarity.
The episode I’m appearing in was the last one recorded for the regular season, and is airing two shows before the finale. Earlier the same day, the pilot episode was recorded. The taping took place on Mother’s Day, and had me on site in Manhattan Beach from 9:00 a.m. until very nearly midnight.
I’m performing on Mel B’s team, although, during the Boot Camp on April 26, Joey Fatone did make an incursion into our studio, possibly to spy on us. I handed him Michaela’s cell phone, and told him to give her a call, which he very graciously did. This made me (for that weekend, at least) the coolest dad on the planet.
The day after we taped the show, I started my new job for the USPS. This information will not be appearing on the air, as I did not find it necessary to share it with the production company at the time.
I got to keep the outfit that I performed in, but I have not yet found a suitable occasion to wear a pinstriped silk suit with topaz-colored rhinestones super-glued to the coat in public.
I am constrained by contract from discussing the season finale, so I won’t.
Anyway, I hope everybody tunes in to see me and my then-workmates perform. There’s about twenty-four hours or so of tape with me on it, and I loook forward to seeing how they made me look.
Has anybody watched this show yet, btw?
