The doctor confirmed that I am pregnant. I wanted very much to be, but I thought it was not possible. My husband is sterile. I have a lover, but I did not think she could get me pregnant, but fortunately I was wrong. I have never before been so happy to be wrong. We both plan to breast feed. My husband is ecstatic.

But KellyM - now, now, don’t spoil such a happy occasion by being persnickety. The situation in question, while perfectly wonderful, is somewhat out-of-the-ordinary (I don’t like the word “odd”) relative to most situations, and you can’t expect everyone to know the whole background. Be patient with people who likely only mean you well.

Congratulations to the two of you! You’ve already got a name picked out and everything, so obviously, this is something you’ve really wanted. Best of luck with the whole pregnancy thing (too bad you can’t share that, eh? :)), and may your baby be happy, healthy, and beautiful (yeah, they say all babies are cute, but they lie).
Actually, we picked out the name before we knew, and we weren’t trying (in fact, I believed that I was sterile as I was told that I’d be irreversibly sterile after six months of hormone replacement and I’ve been on hormones for two years now). So it was a bit of a surprise for all of us.
Of course, there’s always the possibility of immaculate conception. Stranger things have happened.
